So I just got a 23 tooth odyssey Burlington and kmc 710sl and I put it on my bike yesterday and the chain is clicking everytime I pedal so I don't know what is causing this, does anybody have a clue what it could be? Also I have 8t mix on the rear if that helps at all

Your driver is probably worn out. It didn't click with your old chain because the driver and chain had worn together and therefore meshed right. New chain+old driver=clicking sounds. I was able to alleviate some of the clicking (when I didn't have enough money to buy a driver) by taking a dremel and grinding the teeth of the driver down so instead of probably looking like )\, they look more like this /\

Well the driver looks fine, I took it apart and everything but its still doing it. Could it be because of the sprocket and driver alignment

It could be. It could still be the driver though...sometimes you can't notice it. Also, if my memory serves, the 710sl is directional, is it not? Make sure you've got it on the right way.

Well then I have that right. I noticed that when my wheel is slammed that my driver is lining up like 1/8" into my bb tube so something is off alignment I'm assuming

Yea, try moving some spacers from the drive side crank to the non-drive if you can. Sometimes you can't cause you don't have enough spacers.

I have the adapter of my sprocket and that's it on the drive side so I can't move any spacers

This, the alignment is off or your sprocket is bent.

|

10/16/2010 9:54 AM

It has to be the alignment, the sprocket is brand new
And the chain does not blow, it's pretty good
