umm al i want to know is what do i cut it with a hack saw or would a pipe cutter do the job nice and how much under the stem do i want it

i use an old stem and a hack saw but the pipe cutter is way better, you should go for that
and in mine i have not more than 1 or 2mm under the stem, safer and the stem doesn't get fucked up, specially the elementary

cheers mate yer i just did it with a hacksaw and a old stem and filed it all nice and it worked a treat looks much better cut than with like 4 spaces inbetween it

but i have odyssey forks so i dont want to like f them up u know?

Yeah, its so you don't have to have a shit ton of spacers on your forks so your stem is lower. And it maybe drops an ounce or so off the weight, but it's not really noticable.

How do you cut it if the threads are on a seperate piece welded into the fork. Just cut until you still have a little rome for the compresion bolt to hit??
