I love my bike.
It feels great and it looks great, what's not to like?

Lately, however, I have been making my bike look a bit more like a respectable one. I removed stickers. I gave it some elbow grease with a rag and soapy water. Eyeing it, something was just missing.

A head tube badge.

So, a few weeks into the school holidays, I just squeezed the brake on my hibernation mode. Something had to be done.

This thread is a small log of my efforts, and for you all to comment: I love comments.

Sketching up some ideas on paper:

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

I chose the shovel/spade crossing the sickle design.
Here is the base material...

More pics soon.

All set and ready to go: dremel with cutting discs at the ready, gloves, a mask, and (not in the photo) ear muffs for sound protection.

I had to draw the motif the other way around on the backside so that I would have the correct orientation on the right side (the polished one).

I am anxious to see the results, I plan to make one out of Copper or wood
Not sure what I want to do design wise.

One thing I ALWAYS suggest, make it a tad bigger than you think you need, so you can file it down to smooth it up.

Done.

A bit sketchy, but that is because it hasn't been polished and smoothened.

What do you think?

File it smooth, polish it up.

How are you planning to fasten it to the frame?

Ah. Tricky one that.

The original plan was to put it up with bolts in the Gyro holes.
That is feasible but didn't quite work with the design.

I am planning to remove the sticker badge, sand the paint down a tiny bit, and either use epoxy or super glue/ CA.

The steel is stainless so there is no worry of it rusting.

One thing ...more

It's one thing I discovered...

This is actually my second try. The first failed miserably on an overly thick plate.

I have a lot of material left, who wants a (rough) head tube badge?

My brother works at a prop shop... I could probably get one done in a few hours out of any material.

Y'all are crafty. I rely on finding cool large-size stickers and just giving the HT a different look once in a while...

CNC would be the best... Imagine a 3D owl sculpture for a badge!

I have better pics on my instagram that are like over a year old but cant save them off insta. But here's one of them. Took the Kink Mudrunner badge and drilled out the K. I did another one where it had more detail and was all gold from sanding the silver paint off. Pretty fun projects.

The bike was obviously built in Sparta, for chariot races
