man these things are great!

i know this is a bmx forum but i figured you guys would like these too

very fun to ride...great for beer runs or just a cruise!

i really like the honda elite 50

i had one and they have an electric and kick start which is a great feature

also the yamaha jog was the shit back in the day

i recomend only getting a honda or yamaha as chinese made scooters are shit

you can usually cop a decent one for $350-$550 used on CL

heres my old elite,i sold it cuz i needed a some extra cash

good thing is the guy i sold to looked like he could do something sweet with it like the scooter in the video

heres the old school jog

much better than the sluggish yamaha razz although the razz is still cool in its own right

what was cool about these was how zippy and fast they were

the new jogs can run around $2000 but if you can find and old but good one grab it

no not the elite and the razz/jogs...

yes the vespas and buddy scooters and vinos are for hipsters but not the older hondas and yamaha 50's

and they have their niche

theyre quiet

theyre pretty zippy

you can ride them just about anywhere including bike trails

you dont need a lisence in some cases

why would you wannna take your 450cc honda CR dirtbike to the store to grab some blunt wraps?

you can throw them in a truck or even a car

1.50$ to fill up in gas plus the honda and yamahas engines are built well

theyre basically a toy/short distance cruiser/transportation

not something youd pick up a first date on but like i said a quick neighborhood cruise or a beer run

funny you say that, i am an alcoholic with a DUI and would rather walk than ride a scooter.....

|

1/28/2017 7:58 PM

you can catch a DUI on a scooter or even a bike

ive never been dumb enough to catch a DUI charge

dont drink and drive kids or drink and scoot for that matter

|

1/28/2017 8:19 PM

these scooters are also great for tailgaiting, getting around race tracks and cruising through open air car shows

like i said only honda and yamaha perferably 1987-2001 models

they look the best and dont have that cheesy hipster vibe to them like alot of newer scooters do

Gopeds are great too although they need a lot of maitenace and can be quite loud

i had the trevor simpson GSR 40...'twas alotta fun but the constant maitenance and upkeep was annoying

i actually perfer a solid moby bladez goped over goped brand but newer ones are hard to find

thats a sweet bike but a street bike is what it is and a scooter is so as well

scooter is a scooter and one of those is a street machine

im just pointing out not all scooters "trendy" and some can be like "cruisers" so to speak

I'd rock a scooter. Build a bike rack and haul my bike to the park on nice days. It'd be fun. Anyone who says otherwise should lighten up.

lol who the hell stunts a pig like an '02 ZX7? They're garbage. Get an F4i or '06 and under 636, you can find them for about $2k. Post some pics of you stunting that thing because i have this feeling you hard park that thing and tell people you stunt.

whats with people like you thinking its so hard to wheelie or drifting (i dont do tank sit down spreaders and shit im too big) lol i grew up racing bmx and motocross and im not some teenager or 20 yr old. i have no issue with the zx7r because im not a scrawny little nerd like most of these riders, dudes are stunting harleys with less power and more weight and at the time when i scooped this i was looking for months and no 636 or anything for 2k or under at best there was an SRAD 750. "Post some pics of you stunting" theres 2 1/2 feet of snow on the ground.

Have had a couple of scoots in my time, mostly when i lived in the Netherlands, had a Peugeot Speedfight and a tomos 50, still had plenty of fun on them, but moved onto big bikes later, now and then i look on ebay/classifieds looking for a cheap scoot for a few hundred quid to play with every now and again.

Most of the yamaha/suzuki/italjet/piaggio's/gillera's etc all shared the same engines, think there one or 2 variations on them but they all pretty much had minarelli engines, my mate who was a motorbike mechanic by trade bought a load of tuning bits for his and it was a little flying machine it would leave Golf GTI's at the traffic lights up till about 60mph,, it went off the clock at 80mph so dont know what its top speed was, it had 80cc barrel and piston, race pipe, race reeds, better variator, heavier clutch springs and staright cut gears for the gearbox etc, you could sit on the back wheel all day on it.

Dont knock them till you've tried them, specially tuned ones,

Living in Thailand, having a scooter is a necessity. I have a Honda Wave 125 and Honda Click 125i. Gets the job done.

I used to have a '92 NC30 (VFR400) that I brought from my brother. I had it for like 6 months back in '08 before I sold it. I miss it and dont miss it... Fuckin ridiculous taxes on any motorcycle engine over 250cc, etc etc. Im considering getting a MSX125/Grom and turning it into a mini stunter.
