How do you guys like your bike to feel??

I personally like to have all the options possible. Eventually i will be running 4 pegs and a coaster! I prefer it to not be too responsive in the front end, no 25mm forks or anything steeper than 75 for me! I like 20.75 and 21 both for different reasons! I know some dudes like to have a real responsive ride and others like all that long trails stuff. I like my drivetrain tight, no sounds, and fast tires for sure. i like my grips grippy and pedals also.
So what do you all prefer? A responsive ride, a longer feel, an in between? Do you ride it til it doesnt work or have it 100% all the time like me? Also do you like your tires super hard? Do you like high or low bars? How much do you like it to weigh?

Also here is my ride. I ride it slammed at 13.6ish, i like a kinda responsive rear end to make my 3s look fast and my manuals real easy.

Everything has to be tight, 65PSI & NO more in the tyres. Small bars with LOTS of Upsweep, Flangeless Grips, High Seat, Hub Guards, 4 Pegs.
That's about it for the Street Bike. Its 5:06am here in the UK i haven't slept at all because of the fucking nerves in my shoulder I am tired & i really CBA to type out the Flatland bike. It would be A LOT lol.

Squirrelly and kinda slow. Fat tire with mid range psi. Grippy fucking pedals, steep ht and forks, long reach stem, short toptube, shortas rear end, lower seat tube (I'm just short). Also have to have good engagement but not profile quick. And another thing is is thin grips, I need to be able to feel metal underneath
Basically I like to feel my bike under me, not in me.

I like my bike dialed in, dont want to hear creaking or anything. Also like it to feel responsive but stable at the same time. Pretty much just your standard stuff like 13.5 rear end, 75 HT, 8.8 bars with a 53mm reach front load, 32mm offset forks. The only different thing about my bike is the 165mm cranks, for me they feel so much more better than 175's.

|

7/1/2013 9:28 PM

not too picky actually. i can adapt to bb height/tt/ cs length. taller bars for my bad back. 4 pegs and 70 psi. and everything lined up properly

8 inch tall bars Chicago .........tall seat post..........right now gyro back brakes with no pegs and 30 to 9 gear ratio to get that speed........100 to 110 psi

|

7/1/2013 10:40 PM

I set my Bike up for Flowy stuff like Concrete Bowls but manly technical creative stuff:
4 Pegs
Straight Cable Rear Brake
Front Brake, dialled up to the maximum
Chicago Bars, 8.5ish with Topload and about an Inch of spacers
Front Brake Lever about 3/4" from the Grip
9" Standover with an extra 5" of Post
Mid Seat
75 HT, no more but don't mind 74.5
Metal Pedals
28/9
Dirt Tyre up Front, 2.1-2.2"
All Round Tyre in the rear, 1.85-1.95"

|

7/1/2013 11:07 PM

Stable front end... 74-74.5 headtube with 25-32mm forks
20.75" top tube with 53mm stem
Whatever rise my bars are with 15mm spacers, Tom Dugan Stem, and Fit Macs slightly Chicago'd
2 left pegs, metal only, sometimes another one on the front for crookeds
175mm cranks
27-28" wide bars
13.5-13.75" rear end for stability in the air and manuals
Metal pedals
30/10 gearing with a guard sprocket
2.25" Aitken in the front, 2.1" Revenge in the back, works for everything
Rear straight cable only, front brake in the winter for park riding
Cassette most of the time, freecoaster in the winter for park riding
1-2 inches over a fist of post with a Tree Slim seat for stability and comfort
Full link chain
70-90 psi depending on how difficult my pump is being
26-28 lbs
Stiff as fuck

|

7/1/2013 11:11 PM

Pretty much slammed seat, 25-9 gearing, most of the time 4 pegs, 4 hubguards if possible, super tight chain or tight chain, well lubed chain, well greased bearings, nice loud rear hub sound, 75-90 PSI in the tires, halflink chain if possible, masterlink if possible, slim plastic pedals if possible. Pretty much all the "if possible" stuff I kinda already have and some I don't but there's much more to it..

I don't know really. I get bored and change shit so much. I like it pretty stable, 8.5x28 is the biggest bars I'll ride. Seat raised just a bit and as light as possible.

Have you got rid of the Front Brake for now then?

|

7/1/2013 11:30 PM

Damn... that made me realize how much my preferences have changed haha. A few months ago I hated trails and only rode street so I had a front brake, four pegs, shorter cranks, and a freecoaster. Now I ride nothing but trails, flowy park, and fast street so I have only 2 pegs, a rear brake, longer pegs, and a cassette, haha. I really need to just stop changing my bike.

For right now. Just riding the F25s without brakes haha, got a few confused looks at parks. Like I'm an alien or something. I took it off because I finally decided to try to dial in my brake and of course had to accidentally fray the cable for like half of its length hahaha.

65 psi up front, 70 on the rear.
1 degree upsweep and as little backsweep as possible (kinda like a DH bike flat bar)
short-ish TT (20.5, i'm 5'8" i like a cramped cockpit)
thin flangeless grips
short stem (currently riding a 50mm front load, i have a 48mm topload incase i want to switch up)

Thinking about getting 25mm offset forks.

My Ideal Geo's would be...

Street: short & responsive / 20.5tt - 75.5ht - 31.2cs - 8.25so - 28 offset on forks

Park: medium length & responsive / 20.75tt - 75ht - 13.5 - 8.25so - 30 offset on forks

Trails & bowls: long & flowy / 21tt - 74.5ht - 13.75cs - 8.5so - 32 offset on fork

Everything tho has gotta be fresh & dialled, no noise, nothing loose.

Dat bike is mint btw

Flatland preferances...

Frame wise, i have messed around with numerous different geometries but this is what works for me..
75 Degree Head Tube Angle, 19.25"-19.5" Top Tube Length, 71 to 73 Degree Seat Tube Angle, 7" Stand Over Height, 11.75"-11.8" Bottom Bracket Height, 12.75" to 13.25" Chain Stays.
12 to 15mm Minimal Offset Fork with Short Steerer Tube - FUCK shit loads of spacers!
High Rise Headset Cap 12mm to 15mm-ish with Fully Sealed ACB Bearings
34-36mm Top Load Stem
8.5" Height Bars, Somewhere around 26"/27" Width, At LEAST 3 Degrees Upsweep, 6 to 9 Degrees Backsweep, 4-Piece!
155-160mm Flangeless Grips
Thicker Padded Pivotal Seat, Hand Friendly! (I am liking the Eclat OZ Thick Padded right now!)
230-300mm Pivotal Post
Regular Seat Clamp with Replaceable Nut & Bolt preferably
Regular Link Chain with ONE Half Link
22t-25t Sprocket. Not into this Ultra Micro Drive Sprocket Crap 15t!! Really?!
160-165mm Crank Arms, I prefer 22mm Spindles for the Extra Stiffness.
Plastic Pedals. I am hoping to try out Moto Bicycles Wooden Pedals (They are Fucking DIALED!)
1.85" Kevlar Bead Tyres with Super Light Inner Tubes - Possibly even Presta Valves depending on the Rim.
Aero-ish Rims - I like the Aero Shape for grabbing but i also like to have enough Rim for Brake Pads.
36h, 3/8ths, Female Front Hub
36h 10t/11t Freecoaster Rear Hub (Hoping the Profile Freecoaster will have a PROPER Female Axle option!)
Double Butted Spokes, Alloy Nipples
4.5" Long x 1.625" O.D, Medium Depth Knurled Pegs, Possibly Plastic
Optional Extras: Titanium Bolts!

I guess I'll add more input.

Frame specs: 21tt but feels like a 20.6 (fly tierra), shorter rear end that has a decent range, lower standover, lower bb height.
Bars: 8.25x27.5 or 28 but I can't get myself to cut down my t1s lol.
Forks: I dont care they're all the same to me
Slim seat: not much padding at all
25-9
female hubs I fucking hated hitting the back of my leg on the axles.
Fl stem with two small spacers
plastic pedals but I sometimes ride metal ones for fun
2.1 tires. I hate fucking massive tires.
crank arms 175 because I always had 175s lol.
The rest I really don't care about.

Long tt
13,7+ backend
High BB
High Standover
No stem spacers
Topload and hoders
Thin grips
2 fists of post
30-9
2.2 tyres
65PSI

Basically feels manoeuvrable and fast.

Yeah. You can't really pedal in the middle of a set (Which you have to do in some of the trails around here) and the slack sketches me out when going fast.

It's quite funny i bitch on Removable mounts all the time but with my Flatland bike i will have removables on the Frame & Forks. I do like having all the options open with a Flat bike. I do run a Front Brake every now & again & i suppose with the Removables on the Frame i could run a Rear Brake with a full gyro set up. FULL ON FREESTYLE BABY!!
