How to build a budget bike.

buy used parts for as low as possible

I built a custom for $600 at 13. Used parts. Haggling.

I built my bike for $155 no lie it isnt a top notch custom complete but it is a nice bike its a cult cc00 with aftermarket parts just search local craigslist ads I found my bike completely stock for $80 and put $75 in it

Buy a mongoose mode 900 , then beat the shit out of it and buy new parts to replace broken parts, that's the way to go

I started out with a 99 Diamondback Viper ($6 LOL)then got a mirraco Icon for $45 without the rear wheel .Used the diamondback wheel but that didnt last long. Got a rear wheel from a guy for $50 (eastern bidirectional 48 spoke BMKinlin rim WITH a maxxis mirracle tire) then a shadow crow sprocket ($28), and then I got my Subrosa malum frame for $30 (Mario.V you're the MVP :D ) and then a new chase haw tire for the front ($32) and then pedals ($16) and then grips.($12)
And now, I want to buy a wheelset ($210) and the Odyssey MDS2 gaurd sprocket ($56)
so my decent bike cost me $158 )
so now I'm about to double that with the wheelset :/

Keep watch on craigslist, ebay, and for sales on dans, empir, and albes.

I worked in a shop and bought nearly all of my current bike for cost. AKA about half of retail. So I guess I have around 600-800 into my bike. MAYBE.

local used classifieds. trust, you can find full customs for cheap. my first good bmx was a WTP Trust from 2009 that i got in 2011 for 250 bucks.

I seen your bike check i was like wow what a deal it looks nice i hope i can build a bike around that price maybe 200.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions i will check for sale and ebay. But ebay does has a couple of things i want but i think it would be a little cheaper getting some parts from danscomp because i got 15%off on my next order over 100.00.

try local ads like craigslist. that way you can see the parts in person before you buy

Ok i checked my local craigslist someone is selling frame with cranks pedals front and rear rim for 80. But i really want the rims the most it rear is odyessy v3 and front is alienation he selling before for 30, 10 for the alienation 20 for odyessy v3 and he also have a pilot lite stem do you know the stem or have anybody heard of it. And homer bars i never heard of the bars or stem.

look on craigslist, find a nice bike and talk him/ her down, or just buy a cheaper complete but make sure it has sealed wheels and inagrated headset and mid or Spanish bottom brachet, you will regret getting unsealed bearings trust me they always come loose or they are always to tight. just save up the extra money and get something that will last vs. something cheape that will last a month...
