What would be a good set of hubs to get if I am going to do a lot of grinding??

|

10/9/2014 4:04 AM

i think you like bsd so get a bsd hub.lol anyways get the bsd backstreet pro cause that thing is made for heavy street and grinding.

With proper guards and technique it doesn't matter a whole lot. I could honestly rock stock unsealed wheels just fine and make them last me easily a year. I also don't grind a ton, but even so, my parts last me a long time, even with being a fatass.

N4fl v2 or daily grind with the guards for front, bsd pro in the rear
The fronts have integrated gyards, the back has guards for it available that don't suck

N4fl hubs are bomb. I and 4 other people I ride with have them, and the only issue anyone has had was my v1 that I bought used blew a pair of bearings and the aluminum axle cracked after almost a year of me riding it. Easy fix and the new ones have chromo axles.

If that's the style you ride then yes, because they also make the R25 which if my understanding of that is correct, the R25s are more responsive/twitchy than the R32s, but the R32s are more stable at higher speeds. One of them is easier for balancing nose tricks too but I forget. I'm not too big on knowing about offsets personally, I just ride what I like. That being said, either one of the forks doesn't limit your riding at all. It just has different specs designed to make certain things easier, but won't necessarily make it magically come to you right away.

Odyssey/Sunday forks are the best you can buy.

inb4 huge fork debate that always happens when stating Odyssey/Sunday forks are the best.

Thanks again man i had stock Sunday forks on my bike that it came with and ive bent them with some pretty heavy crashes so i want a strong and reliable fork

Any stock fork can and will bend easily, don't let that throw off Sunday for you. Their 41 Thermal parts are really good.

The 32s are easier to balance with, but are harder to 'pop' into. And i cant be arsed starting that argument, might aswell just copy and paste it from another thread where me and ohian go at it for days... If someone wants to think that, they can, its the interwebz, why should igaf? Haha

What do you mean by pop man?

|

10/14/2014 7:04 PM

It is harder to get into a manual with 32 offset forks, but easier to mainta in
25 is easier to get into but harder to balance

Female hub bolts are stronger
also generally easier to install ime
why do you not lIke them?

Because with females i wear out the bearings and wreck my hub and also i bend the female bolts :/ they are easier to install but i was thinking by having a male axle it would be beefier and should last longer

female hubs (true 14mm) are a lot stronger than a male 14mm
male vs female shouldnt effect bearing life. in fact, a male should blow bearings quicker dude to the bearing alightment getting messed up due to a bent axle rather than a center axle that can't bend

10/21/2014 7:27 PM

So would you go a set of profile hubs with a back male 14mm or would you go Bsd backstreets set with 14mm female hub bolts??

|

10/21/2014 7:34 PM

You can get the BSD rear hub in 14mm male you know.

Personally I'm well aware that 14mm female is stronger than 14mm male, but I would never run it myself. Just my preference, and I like my rear wheel to actually spin. Every female front hub with press on hardware I've ever had, never spins as well as a hub with thread on hardware. Plus I just don't like it. You could give me a million reasons why 14mm female is stronger & in a lot of ways better, but I would always opt for 14mm male myself.

|

10/21/2014 10:33 PM

Im personally the same as you man male back hubs is just what i have seen work better
whats hubs do you run?

|

10/21/2014 10:41 PM

|

10/21/2014 10:47 PM

10/21/2014 11:00 PM

Cult Match > Profile any day.

With Profile, you're paying twice as much just for a loud hub that will develop a wobble after awhile.

Cult Match will hold up to whatever you throw at it. Mine's 2 years old now with no issues, and it's the same thing as a Primo Mix and my one friend's been riding the Primo Mix for almost 7 years now with 0 issues as well so that should say something about how good it is.
