Well, i got a ticket for riding at a NO BIKES skatepark, no real reason as to why they arent allowed. I'm gonna walk you guys through my struggle here, and understand i was fuming mad. One BEAUTIFUL day, me, Stocksy, and my brother Chubs take our usual trip to Wheeling Skatepark. It is a half street, half concrete bowl park, that i LOVE to ride. So much fun just riding in the bowl. I was tired, so i mostly chilled and did a few lines here and there. But for the 3 hours i was there i rode for a half hour. I was very tired, so it wasn't much use to try to do these things. So about 2 hours in i'm sitting on a bench watching Stocksy and Chubs and some skaters shred. Then, Timmy Tuff nuts the cop rolls up in his K-9 unit SUV. He walks up to me and immediately he asks
Cop: How old are you?
Me: I'm 17, sir.
Cop: I'm gonna need your phone number and address for this ticket.
Me: Are you kidding me? That's nuts.
(i give him my address and phone number and i swear to God that guy didnt have a clue how to spell...)
Me: Why are you ticketing me?
Cop: Because rules are rules, buddy.
Me: (I look at the sign, it reads NO PETS, NO ALCOHOL, NO SMOKING, NO BIKES, I then look around the park, Wheeling is shit, the people are scum normally, in this park i see as follows: a 12 year old smoking 2 cigarettes at the same time on a scooter, everyone else idk their age, but they are ALL smoking and one guy, who may or may not be homeless drunk as hell with a 40, and this girl that has dogs. They are all in the park and that is DIRECTLY against the rules.) I point at the sign and at this point i am quite pissed and ask the officer, "what does that sign there say?"
Cop: It says NO BIKES.
Me: No, it says NO PETS, NO SMOKING, NO ALCOHOL, NO BIKES.
Cop: Yeah?
Me: Yeah. Look around the park. (i point at the hobo drinking, the people smoking, i point out the 12 year old smoking, the lady with the dogs, he looks at me.)
Cop: I dont know.
Me: Why are you ticketing me then?
Cop: I'm just doing my job.
Me: Bull shit dude. If you did your job everyone gets a ticket. I'm breaking one rule, they can break all of them except for this rule and get off clean?
Cop: Rules are rules.
Me: Whatever man, have a nice day, i ride away.
I wanna be 100% clear, i was not rude to the cop. I now have a court date, PROBABLY 10 hours community service, maybe a big fine, i'm not sure. My mom went to the police station right after and talked to the officer, COMPLETE different person. (My mom is not an ugly woman, she is a pretty lady) and he was very polite and stuff.
I have a serious problem with all of this. I took pictures of all the laws being broken and the sign.
What can i do? Can i fight this ticket?
