i have an old flatland rider friend that would mix street and flat back in 2004. i dont understand flatland its just magic and wizardry. mixing the two is legit the pinnacle of bmx and matthias is a master at it.

Yeah man, that's exactly what Im thinking. Flatland is such an amazing flow and style of riding! And mixing it with street is just awesome! Especially how much flow and smoothness Matthias has! It's absolutely insane!

Flatland really is magical and wizardous, his style is absolutely beautiful...

Mixing flat with street or park is an old art that has kinda died down over the years, other than the prevalance of hang 5's. It's a shame because stuff like undertaker tailtaps or backwards dork wheelie along a ramp deck to decade drop in is cool as all fuck. It's also makes flat a bit more accessible to people that it might usually bore

Some recommendations:

Kouichi Higo AKA Forkone
Sean Fish Hoskins
Rob Ridge (although most of his stuff is tailwhip nosepick variations)
Jay Miron in Madd Matt
Mark Eaton
Dane Beardsley (not flat mixed with non-flat, but very unconventional flat that might be more interesting than more conventional flat

Made me think of this guy. I could do without the gymnastics but he does a lot of flatland and weirdo stuff:

I can't do 1% of what he does, but from my point of view, I think that it could be smoother... There is a distinct cut between flat/street tricks in his line (for some), but for others- especially the swively, turny, pivoty stuff- that's world class riding.

His fakies are really of the on-off type for turns, which is sketchy but that I kinda like...

His freecoaster skills rival those of Shane Weston:
