Once again it seems my bike is teasing me. No matter how hard i cranks down on my rear hub bolts, my wheel shifts to the side of the dropouts after two icepicks. I'm literally cranking it till the bolts won't tighten any farther. I'm hoping this is happening because i have all full links and my wheel sits pretty far back in the dropouts. Will getting a new chain that has a half link fix this?

Make sure your set up goes
Bolt/nut - washer - peg - drop out - hub hardware

Also make sure your peg isnt hanging off the drop out.

You tried sanding the paint off your dropouts?

Naw but most of it is gone anyway. @hardbmxtim my peg does hang off the rear a bit. Only way i can keep my chain tight.

That's probably your problem. See if one of your friends has an extra halflink you can get. I put a shadow interlock link in my friends chain and it worked just fine. I believe dans also has individual halflinks for like 50cents.

Sand your dropout/base of the peg, run a washer inside the peg, grease up the threads, slam your wheel with a half link or without if your ok with the wheelbase change.

Female, shemale or male axle?

If female, you need some knurling to grip. If male, you need some knurling for grip. If shemale, your axle collar thingies might be a little longer than the width of your dropout, so add a washer BETWEEN the dropouts and the lock nut/cone of the hub.

Take the paint off the back of the pegs (part that rests against the dropouts) and rough them up.
Then rough up your dropouts a bit.

I used a razor blade knife to cut little notches in both CUTTING AWAY FROM MYSELF CAREFULLY.

Also ROUGH UP the press on cone spacers on the inside of the dropouts.

That will help.

Making sure you aren't bottoming out the bolts somehow inside the axle (stock bolts?) helps. As does trying to land smoother into the icepicks if you are slamming down.

Nah, I have used them for this purpose and it works as a chain tensioner, at least preventing the chain from getting any more loose.

Sanding/filing between the peg n dropout will help the most, if youre too cool for a chain tensioner that is.

If a company sold pegs with knurled ends, I bet itd catch on. You wouldnt buy un-knurled bars would you?
