I started BMX in high school in 2002 then dropped out about 2 years later. When visiting an old friend I used to ride with he gave me back my original frame and fork I'd left with him some 11years before. Here's what we used to have to learn on.
It's a Diamondback Orion frame and stock diamondback fork.

Back when frames didn't break, even when you were hit by a car!

Heaviest bike I had was a next gen dirtbike. It didn't even seem heavy at the time. After that I had a s&m pbr that weighed around 27lbs. Before those i only rode trails so had fairly light bikes. Looking back, mid school frames were pointlessly over built. But a lot were over built to make up for the fact they were poorly made.

My old, 2000 - Specialized Fatboy Vegas TJ Lavin. This thing is heavy. Had a lot of fun riding it back then, the weight didn't bother me much.

hmmm...I thought by old school you meant this:

my 1981 Supergoose that was stolen

or this

the bike that replaced the above Supergoose - 1988 Californian Pro. My current bike

one of the mags on that Supergoose probably weighed as much as one of the frames above...the frame itself was super light (for the time)
