UPDATE: check below

so hey guys! I'm making a new bmx company, but I wanna see if it actually has any potential and hear your thoughts before i get my investment. so..
it's a custom bar end company!
You get to choose:
-the material: metal, plastic, wood (mahogany, oak, or maple)
-color: black, red, orange, blue, green, chrome, purple, zebra, leopard, oil slick (+$10 for oil slick)
-engraving: you can get your name (or anything) engraved in it if you like (+$10)
-optional: weight-reducing hole(s) drilled in, decals (studded diamonds (+75), gold flakes (+50)) and only available for metal

Prices:
the metal ones would be 25 bucks a pair (plus extra if you want engraving and decals)
plastic ones are 10 bucks a pair (odyssey par end formula)
wood is 30 bucks a pair (super nice wood, hand-made)

could you see yourself buying any of these products? why or why not? thanks!

they are gonna get smashed regardless, i see no point in spending more than 15 dollars on bar ends, even if they are metal

The whole point of these bar ends is not utility, but to make a statement. It's to show that you are in a higher class than others. That's the whole point of wearing expensive brands like louis vuitton...you don't buy their stuff just because it's warmer or more comfortable, but more so that you can separate yourself from those who can't afford stuff like that.
this is a premier bar end brand...only for the higher class people.

Lolol I just realized you're the same guy who called out Subrosa last night for making "all sorts of stupid shit" and an overpriced rail, yet you want to make highly overpriced bar ends(That constantly get beat & bashed whenever your bike drops to the ground) with engravings & even studded diamonds or gold flakes that would drive the cost up to $100.. $100 for a pair of bar ends, all to just say "Hai guiz look at mi svv@99y bar ends, lulz am betur than u"

alright. I will admit that I no longer hold the same opinions about subrosa. i think the rail isn't too badly priced, and is good for those who live in places without lots of spots.
However, the bar ends that I wanna make are not overpriced. You aren't just paying for the materials. You are paying for the prestige you earn with these bar ends. They are a badge of honor and economic distinction.
I'm not an elitist, and I don't believe in eugenics (as bmxsteve99 accused). I simply want to give the wealthy, the better, another way to not just show their status, but to feel their superiority.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and guess that you're one of those people who has several pairs of $200 Jordans, $400 Gucci belts, and several Diamond Supply Co. clothing items, just to brag to his friends that he spent several times the money on something just because they feel like it makes their dick bigger.

nope. I buy on sale t shirts from danscomp and i'm wearing 30 dollars jeans right now. I myself don't like to flaunt my wealth. I'm just making a company so that those who do want to express themselves have another means of doing so.

Express themselves. By paying huge amounts of money on a part that gets smashed in a week and no one ever notices. Definitely won't fail. This isn't like your local company that can produce nice looking things, because those things are actually useful.

The Trailest Bike On Vital

Thanks for all the feedback so far - I greatly appreciate it.
After consulting with my business partners, we've decided that perhaps bar ends are not the best way to go, since (as many of you said), they get smashed up quickly and are not easily noticeable.
And so, we have decided to make custom seats and seat posts, as these are much more effective ways of expressing yourself.
Currently, we have planned:
SEAT POSTS:
material: metal ($45), plastic ($30), wood ($50, mahogany, maple, oak)
engraving: + $10
color: the same ones as the bar ends, except oil slick is +$25
extra: diamond studs (125) and gold flakes (100)

SEATS:
all have an ergonomic foam base, pivotal or tripod ($40 base price)
material: metal (25) plastic (15)
style: dark blue denim (+$25), genuine leather ($50), cow hide ($75)
custom insert: we can put a custom message or design under the cover (prices vary, but minimum would be around $50)

IMPORTANT: if you have any other special requests that you don't see above, feel free to ask, and we can offer a price estimate.
feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Vital gets more retarded every day I look...

so now youve realised that bar ends are a stupid idea, youve just changed your whole business in a matter of hours. Good luck to ya, I see this going well...

The people who buy shit like that aren't coming to the skatepark where the majority of people are in there teens and 20s they buy fancy cars and clothes to show off there money and go to high end places.
If u go to a skatepark with gold flakes in your seat post only thing your gonna get is a bunch of people talking shit lol

|

3/30/2015 7:14 AM

We don't need people like this in BMX

The idea and concept is silly, sounds like your more suited to fashion design maybe.

I hate people that jump on the bandwagon of cool and what's fashionable.....go away!

|

3/30/2015 7:36 AM

And as soon as your bike lands upside down hard on the seat, the wood snaps and sends splinters into your ass. Great idea.

Anyone who is going to pay extra for barends or seats or seatposts or anything, just to show off their wealth is a complete douchefaggot. Go ahead. brag about how you're better than everyone else just because you can afford expensive stuff, and make all the kids who don't have that kind of money feel bad and stop riding because they feel that they have to be rich. Asshole move in my opinion.

Obvious troll right here. Anyone who knows anything about bikes would know that wood seatposts with diamond studs and gold flakes and seats made out of metal with ugly designs on them are super impractical. You can't put diamond studs on a seatpost, because then it wouldn't fit in the seattube. And nobody in their right (or left) mind would ever have a seat made of metal, especially the weight weenies. This is dumb.

Go back to sipping your margaritas up in your mansion, high class prick.

What do I think? I think you're a pretentious douche that believes money is what separates people. I know your business will fail, but it does not matter because you can just suck on mommy and daddy's tit for the next 15 years and not have to work. Go back to your mid afternoon tennis matches at the country club and leave us poor folk alone.
