Hi there everyone my name is Dan my son is 12 has not long started racing in the UK he is in his 2nd year so still learning a lot about the sport and what to do for his bike. He came 3rd in the south east region novice triple crown last year on a completely stock bike so he done really well considering he was up against kids with far superior bikes. So we are very proud of him.

Most fun/rewarding mid-life crisis I could have imagined...sorry that I waited so long to get back into it!

What's up all. My name is Gary, 46, have decided to get back into BMX for a few reasons: health, fun, enjoyment.

I am a big guy (6'2" 330 lbs)so I am probably gonna start with a 24" and maybe pickup a 20" later. I have no want to, to do big tricks, but a few small ones would be fun while getting exercise. Mtn biking is big here, but not BMX so maybe we can change that as more of us get into riding.

I think there is another regular poster on here from Arkansas. But you're right, BMX is nowhere near as popular as MTB. I am finding the same here. But you get into it and you'll meet a few people here and there and you can always talk to us. I love riding my 20"er. I do ride a 26" bike for exercise every day and then hop on my BMX bike afterwards. Upper body exercise doing freestyle and lower body riding two miles on a cruiser or MTB. LOL.

Thanks! I went with the Chris Childs version because I didn't want to have to learn a freecoaster and I want everything to translate to my mountain bike with having a cassette. I am hoping that it will be in by the weekend so I can build it during my LBS grand opening BBQ ramble.

I'm really digging the look of it online. We will see how it looks in person hopefully this weekend. The bars that come on it are two piece, and definitely expect to see some pictures of it very soon.

I'm Chris, I've been riding BMX since mid 2005, not as much lately though as the past year I've been mainly involved in the filming side, helping those riders who are way above my level get exposure. I'm 21 at this moment in time. I'm a student at University and I also work in a super market.

Hey there, my name is Jeff. I am new to the BMX world, though I may be a little aged for the BMX world. I have been collecting a number of BMX some of which are unique and rare. Can I have a Kona snatch, from which I understand Kona did not make very many BMX bikes. I have a number of questions to ask hopefully there are some of you out there able to help. Amongst my collection I have We the People, Sunday, fit, Kona, Haro, specialized, Hoffman, and mongoose. I also have one bike with a stamp on the bottom of the frame marked" 1". I look forward to chatting with you! Hopefully you can help me answer some of my questions.

I’m Michael. 25 y/o born in ct, been in jersey the last three years
I ride a stolen casino frame from 8 years ago I just rebuilt. Haven’t been on a bmx in those 8 years, but I was doing other related sports. Need something to push myself and blow off steam besides fixing cars 7-7 most days.
Picked up right where I left off for the most part. In the process of learning air outs, tuck nohanders, bar spins, three taps, and dialing in the manuals.

I'm Andy. 38 from the Cleveland area. Haven't rode a bike in 18 years or so and with everything going on I'm looking for an outlet. I rode in the mid 90's to early 2000's so things have changed a lot. My last bike was an American made Hoffman Condor so that'll give you an idea of how long it's been. Looking for a little insight on the current geometries and setups so I can get started back up. Thanks.

Hello and welcome! You might need to make a specific thread and post in the general section to get some answers. There are plenty of guys that know how things compare not to older stuff and can help you.

I'm a total newb. I'm 48 and didn't start getting into BMX until around Christmas. But I think the main differences are Chainstays are shorter, tires are fatter (generally speaking), bars are taller, and cranks are starting to be shorter. This one I'm not completely sure about but I think head tube angles are more vertical for street freestyle bikes.

Then it seems that there are generally 2 kinds of geometry. Park / Street and trails. The trail bikes have longer chainstays and more relaxed head tube angles. And sometimes people that ride park like the a bit more like trail bikes, but even that is more rare, from what I gather and street and park riders are usually riding similar frames.

I apologize If I'm wrong about any of this but I think this is how I understand the current geometry. But like I said, lots of guy son here know more than I do and if you start a separate thread you'll get more views from them and just ask maybe specific questions about what you want to know.

No better time than the present to start riding. Other than that maybe stuff might be harder to get right now if shops are closed.
