My friend has a haro f1c and doesn't need it anymore and I want to get into bmx. It has very few scratches and no dents. Should I buy it?

It's not a good BMX bike. It has steel and Hi-Ten steel parts, whereas ChroMoly is the best for freestyle. If you're truly considering starting BMX, don't start with this one. However, if you could just ask to ride it around for a bit and see how you figure, then invest in a better bike.

Go for it. The bike doesn't make the rider. Eventually as you progress you'll find the parts you need to buy to better suit your needs. Have fun and pedal your ass off!!

Yeah I'd go for it. It's not the best bike, but it's cheap and will do for messing around on until you can upgrade bits or buy a better bike
