That doesn't mean what they're doing is worth $15 an hour.

At times I can be arrogant but that's for my confidence and achievements . With other people I am usually humble. In general though I've been pretty arrogant this past year after some shit that happens and I make the best of it.

Don't get me wrong, i'm young at 22, but if you see anyone 13-18 they seem to have no respect and a "the world owes me everything" attitude that makes me sick

I got my diplomas in engineering, i work a shitty job and pay my own way, why do you deserve any better if you are living from mummy and daddy pockets while spouting how you could do everything better than everyone and deserve good jobs?

But more on the bmx side of it, complaining that nobody cares about your edit, going apeshit because someone calls you out for fucktardery, handing out mis-information because you think you know best rather than facts.

It's awful. You work insane hours, for people who think you are the scum of the earth, you get covered in grease and grime, and you don't get any respect from anyone.

It's DAMN hard work for pay that you literally CANNOT LIVE OFF OF. Go get a job for 8 bucks an hour, work 40 hours a week, and find a place you can afford, factoring in food, phone, entertainment, and any other bills like car insurance and car issues. You can't. That's only 320 a week BEFORE taxes. Figuring 15% for taxes and that comes out to 272. That's being generous to YOU regarding taxes.

I work in a bank making about 1300 before taxes every two weeks, and I walk away with about 800 a check after taxes and health insurance. You can't even live off that without slumming it super badly.

One bedroom apartments in my area in the GHETTO where people get shot at are 500 a month. Look at that, 2 weeks of pay for rent, leaving you about 500 to eat, pay for phone, utilities, car insurance, car payment if you have one, an any other bills. You won't get health insurance at that pay, so doctor visits are about 5 times what they would be on insurance. Example, one ambulance ride for approximately 3 miles, 1400 dollars. Just the ambulance ride. Factor in whatever issues you have when you get there.

Hell, I got a prescription for Tamilfu last week, cost me 35 bucks WITH insurance. Without it is around 200 bucks.

Don't tell me they don't deserve a liveable wage. It may not be what you think is fair, but work it for a year living so shittily, and tell me again.

Currently working in fast food mate and i can tell you i do deserve more than im getting paid but i am in the UK, luckily its barely enough to scrape by with paying my half in the house, but what im getting at is the kids who wont better themselves and believe they deserve more, i can get a better job because i put in the effort to learn etc, and i know my position is temporary while i have this minor setback.

I mean i guess I'm part of the entitled generation. But I don't really think I'm entitled to anything. I work a shitty minimum wage job moving furniture to afford my bike/car parts.

I've noticed at my job the new young kids all seem to have no fucking work ethic , union jobs suck its hard to get rid of lazy useless fuckers

I can probably end up being a manager and end getting paid 80 000$ a year if I continue my job potentially , if I stay with it and work well , consistently. I want to take post secondary trades in construction or welding , depends what has more money.

As a 45 year old who has a lot of younger workers under me, yes, many don't have the work ethic which people had years ago. In my job, we have 21 year olds on $130000+ a year in the mines who piss and moan about others who have been in the game for 20 years making a few grand more than them. As soon as the leading hand turns his back, they are leaning on a bench, checking their phones or hiding away chatting to their mates, complaining that they aren't on equal pay. They aren't all like this, we have some good workers, but a lot I wouldn't feed.

I worked hard and now i have a decent job and when i finish being an apprentice ill be on a fair few dollar..... Min apprentice wage is like £2.50 odd? Mines like £6 odd an hour an its my first year... I mean £900 a month (what i take home) isnt great, but for a first year apprentice its fucking good! Work hard, get rewarded.

So im 20... Do i count in this generation of self entitled morons? Haha

Maybe where you are. I know when I was doing my apprenticeship, If I was slacking off, talking and complaining as much as some of our apprentices, we would have been terminated. Now they just council them again and again and a fuckin gain..

I get less than 10, Yes, less than TEN hours a week (8 if i'm lucky it seems) in fast food and there's never a fucking schedule up, and people are always talking about how they get no hours, yet they just keep hiring people when people who have been there longer than me and are quick don't even get near as many as they'd like, one person i asked said he talked to the manager about it and never got a response so he quit (LOTS of people i know have worked there and never complained until i started) And hell i guess some people even say they're overworked because some run/ran the entire kitchen themselves, which i've only really done once but only for a bit in a not busy period and it was pretty fun, but i can see where some of the people i know thought that as you have to fry all the food, cook all the meat and assemble the food itself in under 2 minutes or something that i hardly ever make. Plus, next 2 days after i work i break out like a son of a bitch because of all the fucking grease. Can't wait to leave but i want to be there a few months so i can have a prior experience for atleast some decent amount of time so when i apply where i really want to work i have a better chance of being hired.

You guys think its bad where you live? Try living in LA all i hear is how these 16 year olds with two kids living off welfare and their parents welfare absolutely NEED 20 an hour to stand at a register to support their anchor babies and parents who cant speak English worth shit and sit at home all day.

Kids now don't have the work ethic to match the pay they think they deserve. They just need to be intelligent enough to decipher what is necessity and what isn't. Young people aren't frugal enough to spend the money wisely to support themselves. Its very possible to live on current minimum wage.

They should all just go live in a van down by the river

this x1000. this is my reality. 10 years ago i was making 5.15/hr and life sucked. now i make 15/hr and life sucks a little less. I can barely afford my independence and my rent is 30% lower than the average for a 1-bedroom in my area. So i have no clue how people making less than me can survive.
I'm not complaining because I am scraping by and I am happy enough, but there are a lot of people worse off than me.

Its not all i see, there are a select few that want to better themselves but a whole lot who are happy to have benefits as a lifestyle, pop out a kid in the UK and you are plain sailing, child benefit, house sorted for you, etc.

My advanced diploma isnt high school its college, as i chose to better myself, something alot of kids wont do. Im not lumping you in with these as you clearly recognise it as a problem and choose to better yourself.

Currently i am living off minimum wage and can still afford all my nice things and half the bills, its all about balance, sure you could have that £8 pizza from my place, or you could cook one at home for £3. It all adds up.

I think every generation feels this way about the next generation.

Not really, there seems to be alot less self entitlement when i look at people in their 50's down to mid 20's. Seems if they didnt get educated and into a skilled job they suck it up and get a medium paying job doing work alot of people dont want because of long hours and.usually manual labour.

The complainers are the annoying ones, all mouth, the world owes them but they wont fix themselves.

I feel like it's more of an age thing than a generational thing. Every generation remembers themselves being better than the next generation.

How do people really think its not possible to live on minimum wage. It's very possible. I did it. And I emphasize I lived on minimum wage not lived large. Find a house for rent gather friends and pool resources and skills together. That's what bothers me with young people they think if they don't have money for cable and cell phone their life is shit. I did that while in college and now make better money. But I still live like I'm on minimum wage and its enabled me to buy a house and car. People get way too wrapped up with what they think they need to survive rather than what is necessary to get by. I am lucky enough to have traveled to 3 different countries thanks to my employer. If you think cost of living is high in the U.S. you are vastly undereducated. 2-3 bedroom house in Japan is usually 400k-1mil. Taxes on automobiles are unreal. Groceries are twice as much because everything is hand grown. People work until they die because they have terrible retirement benefits. Its unreal how ignorant most American's are to this.
