Is my Bmx too big?

I am a big time mountain biker, but I have been doing a lot more BMX lately and my bike felt normal until I tried my friend's BMX that is an 18 tt when I have 21. It felt a little small being 4'11 though I could very easily bunny hop it close to as high as the wheelbase though on my BMX I can only get a few inches. It was also easy to manual whereas on my BMX I can never get my front wheel up that easily let alone hold it. I am wondering whether his bike was a better size or I just need to work on it more on a bigger bike.

18" tt is tiny. But, 21" is pretty big for someone your height. If you were thinking of getting a new frame anyway, I'd go for about 20" so you can still grow into it. Or, you might be able to swap frames with someone that wants a 21"

Yeah 21" is way too big for you. I think you'd be much more comfortable on a 20". Riding a 21" is going to make everything a lot harder for you.

How much difference will the 1in make

A lot, surprisingly

Seriously I went from a 20 to a 21 and my god it felt like a completely different bike, like I couldn't believe how opposite it felt.

Would that inch off make manuals possible for my size?

Very much so, I'd say everything will feel easier
