How tall are you? That bike is pretty small. There are bikes around that price point that are better. Mongoose Mode 900 is recommended a lot here. It's about 200 USD and the Legion is 160. Worth the extra 40 bucks for a chromoly frame and maybe some nicer parts(I don't know, haven't looked).

Definitely worth the extra for the Mode 900.

To jncrease the durability of the bike should I get new forks?

If you have money to buy a relatively crappy bike and new forks then just buy a better bike. The Legion is all hi-ten steel and replacing the forks is pretty much only going to make the forks stronger.

Mode 900...ride until parts wear out...replace with better parts...all of the sudden you have a pretty cool bike...AND, you don't have to replace skeletal parts b/c they are all chromoly. You wont need a fork right away

When I started, I rode the Mode 900. I recommend it to all beginners that ride street. Once you get more advanced, you might want to switch to a Cult, Kink, or Sunday. Now I have 40 bikes so it doesn't matter if parts break. But go with a chromoly bike. Hi-Ten steel rusts but it is stronger. And if you ride parks more than street, go with slick tires.

The real begin would only shill for fit and merritt.

Also don't listen to this goon, 1020 steel (the rubbish on low end completes) is weaker than 4130 crmo, and because all the cheap completes with 1020 parts are also really light that means they compromise on strength a LOT.
