Back in the day we all ran Tioga comp 3 tires. What's the deal now? Have modern technology advancements allowed tires to grip the ground without the need for knobs? Or is it that dirt is pretty much dead and everyone rides street/ramps/race (hard pack)?

Well, my trails are pretty sandy and I don't race or ride street. I saw that planetbmx has some tioga knockoffs. I like the wide 2.xx tires. I'm still getting used to the "Getting back into it after 10 years" thing.

Racing? Lots of tracks with paved berms, so more knobby on the edges, and more solid toward the middle. Lost of micro-knobby options (Vee, Maxxis, etc.)

No, I do not race. Just dirt jumps in the woods. Lots of sandy trails. I also have a cruiser so it's especially hard to find.

I'd love a set of maxxis max daddy's if they came with thicker walls and 110 psi rating

I run a knobby 2.35" Aitken in the front and I don't want to run any other front tire again. Love it.

Those tires were used back when people rode everything, but they have found that big knobs aren't needed for everything, similar to how car tires don't have giant knobs unless they are geared for offroading.

As to only riding dirt, if it is loose dirt, I would stick with some knob, if it is hard packed exclusively, I would go with something with less knob as it will roll faster.

The flybikes tire can match what you search, good for all around and still with good knurlings make them perfect to ride dirt and anything else. (same kind of tires than the odyssey aitkens than some people advise you.)

I didn't see these in 24" and they look just like the aitken p-lyte tire.

Yeah, I'm strictly dirt jumps. I do ride the race track but not for racing just for jumping/exercise.

I have one of these in the front but I'm really looking for "dirt-only tire" not one that is good for everything kinda deal. The Odyssey website talks about the p lyte tire as being a newer version of the old "knobby" aitken tire. I can;t seem to find that version anywhere.

I got the K-rad tires with the orange sidewalls on Planet bmx. After these, I guess I will just go with those Tioga comp 3 knock offs on PlanetBMX. The hunt continues.
