So my buddy is looking at getting his first bike after riding mine and he is on a tight budget and was looking at the mongoose legion l100. Based off the sites I've seen it on its full chromoly, double wall rims, integrated headset, sealed bb and rear hub. It actually looks really good to. I told him to check Craigslist but if this bikes decent it isn't a bad deal.

Meh, the biggest problem with mongoose is that they're massively gigantic huge and stuff. It's a mass market brand, which means it's not cool.
It's also means they are insanely affordable, and generally box assembled by a complete fucktard who couldn't put a bike together correctly if his life depended on it.
I'd buy one, reassemble it, peel the stickers off, then try to break it.

Well Im sure he isnt going to break it any time soon and I will be assembling it anyways I always re grease everything so it will have to be re assembled fully. I just figured it being full 4140 chromoly he couldnt go wrong for a beginner bike but I may be wrong. It looks decent and has the same geometry as most bikes 75 headtube angle, 13.7 chain stay, 71 seat tube angle, etc if he doesnt find anything on craigslist or changes his mind about the mongoose in general I'll probably pick one up for myself as a spare bike for when my shit breaks or to loan to friend.

I may do the same. I like having a cheap backup bike and that thing has a 21"TT. Yup, I'd ride it.
