I was doing some research and have been looking for a new frame. I was checking out a few... S&M, Sunday and Standard Byke. I really like the new Standards that are listed on their website. I love the fact that they have been around since 1991. I have always been a bit of a traditionalist and try and stay away from fads. Standard really seems to be on the upswing and have a proven product. What's everybody think?

Get a huffy frame. Totally won't regret it!

|

3/12/2013 9:57 AM

S&M have been around since 1987, and IMO those three Brands are probably the best for Frames IMO.

|

3/12/2013 10:06 AM

All legit brands.
Either way you will be fine, all of them produce quality product and have good warranty (Not sure about Standard).
Personally I would go with S&M, not a huge fan of Sunday.
As for Standard only heard good about them.

S&M, u r from america so u can get them fairly cheap coz in uk they are overpriced as fuck. Check FBM out, strong frames. I got the Gypsy 2 and its fucking legit, strongest frame i've ridden

S&M/Fit stuff is so overpriced here in Europe, it's insane.

My friend lives in the UK and bought a Standard direct from the factory off their website. He was stoked that they shipped it overseas at a reasonable price. Very cool! Said the quality was spot-on. I'm leaning that way. I love the history and the brand.

I have a really nice american made FBM frame for sale on here and live close to you near Joliet. I'd give you a good cash pickup price if you were interested. Here's the link to the ad. Let me know if you'd be interested.

Like I said, S&M have been around since 1987, and I'd say have more history than Standard. But they're both very good Frame manufacturers, as are FBM and Sunday.

I wouldn't say Sunday stuff is overpriced here personally, but I agree with you with S&M, and the US made aftermarket Fit Frames seem to be £400 everywhere I've seen them.

Fuck that.

If I ever have to buy a frame, I'd get either Kink's Solace or Tocco II

Kinks are OK, I might be getting an International soon but only because I can get one on offer for £120 Brand New. But if I was getting something full price I'd rather get a Sunday, S&M, Fit, Standard, FBM, BSD, Federal or Mutiny Frame.

Well most of them that you named are made in the USA. So they are obviously super top stuff.

Although Fit is pretty overrated if you ask me.
They are probably on Kink and WTP's level

Not hating but you are not the best one to take advice from when it comes down to bikes.

Well BSD, Federal, Mutiny and Sunday are all made in Taiwan. And I'd say US made Fit Frames are better than Kink, as they are of course US made and they use Supertherm Tubing, plus I just prefer Fit more. And I'd say WTP are stepping up there game in the Frame Market, especially with Invest Cast Headtubes and Hydroformed Tubing being used, so I'd say they are better than Kink as well.

s&ms are solid i rode ltf frames for 6 years......standards are equally as kickass......the trailboss looks so good, never been a sunday fan............if your one of those guys that are all horny for america go with s&m or standard, or native.......im riding a guerra and stoked on it

I didn't know fit used supertherm.. Hmm I guess they are better than kink then, but just by a bit.

But I still have to say WTP and kink are on the same level. They are good but not the top

As previously stated WTP uses hydroformed tubing and invest casted headtube so your statement that WTP and Kink are on the same level is untrue. Kink is still a good brand but there nothing special

Meh. I'd still buy a kink frame over these lol.
Which brands would you consider to be competitors with kink then?

I'd go BTM, or a Funday. Standard just doesn't have specs that i'm into. They seem super strong though.

Dude, what is with you and Kink all you do is suck their dick. You've only ran their shit complete. Yeah, i'm an animal fan boy, but still recommend other brands, not just animal 24/7.

S&m frames are super legit. And they have all kinds of geometry so you have a bunch of choices. Since you said you're interested in Sunday frames, be sure to check out their soundwave frame.

I'm going to go with the Standard. Talked to Rick the owner himself. Way cool dude. Very accommodating and will build any spec and dimension that I want. Probably just going to go with one off their website. It's easy to see why Standard has the awesome rep that they do. Good feedback from everyone though. Thanks.
