I ride brakes every now and then as the trail season just started here (in Sweden) and I ran into this annoying little problem that my current bars don't allow me to place the brake lever where I want it.
It gets to close to the grip, even though I'm using the Oddysey Trigger lever (a short lever).
My current bars are Colony TENacious and it looks like the cross bar on these are a lot wider than other bars, making the space for grips and brake lever a lot tighter, but I'm not 100% sure about this, maybe someone else have got some input on this?

So what bars should I get, I want at least 9.5" rise and would prefer them to be 30" but I could with a little bit smaller I guess.

I run brakes with Stolen cell bars and find I have plenty of space to put the brake lever. I have the 8.65 rise, but I know you can get them in 9.5.

not sure where you like placing your lever, but this shows how much spare room I have.

Thanks, that's a good help! Have you cut your bars down or is it the original width?

they are uncut so they are 28.5" though if you are getting the 9.5" rise they will be slightly longer

Bend the lever blade out. That's what everyone done when short bars were trendy

If you want some tall wide bars perfect 10s are cheap and lifetime warranty.

The S&M Hoder Skyhigh Bar is 9.5" rise x 31" width, so you can cut to fit, or rock them as is.
