Pic won't upload on mobile but on Merritt's Instagram , shows the new Final Drive coaster which uses a "diamond driver" and has a lifetime guarantee .. now I'm never one set on new tech because KHE is so good but I'd be willing that this is the one that will be the "new" coaster that actually works and doesn't cost the price of a frame . If someone can upload the pic I'd appreciate it .

It just has a bushing driver, which is good unless you happen to like crank flips, they have a little more resistance.

From what I could understand, the driver has a lifetime warranty. Careful worded. Or I'm talking out of my ass. There's that.

Yea I saw that life time guarentee. What I don't get is why the coaster costs almost 30 bucks less then they're cassette?

Correct. Straight from their website

"We used a traditional clutch style system paired with our 9T Diamond Driver (the driver comes with a lifetime guarantee). Our driver replaces the small bearings, the most common source of failure in freecoasters, with polymer bushings along its entire length. The hub shell is super slim and CNC’d 6061 aluminum with a hollow chromoly axle. The hub comes set with maximum slack but adjustment washers are included to reduce slack if desired. Available in RHD and LHD."

All these new coasters still coming out sometimes makes me feel like the only rider with absolutely 0 interest in ever buying a free coaster haha.

Looks pretty cool looking

Loving my demolition rotator , coasters are allot of fun , it's fun relearning tricks without pedal pressure , and opens up a lot of new opportunities

Same boat. All my friends who can't fakie are all buying oilslick colony coasters to the leopard rims for an arm and a leg and I'm about to lace the hub off my cimema zx wheel to a big city rim I got for 10 dollars. Then they get pissy when the engagement sucks, they break all the time, and when we go to the trails they can't hit anything bigger than the beginner line because they can't pedal to get the speed for the big jumps. Then there's the kid who's going to run alex triple walls to pornhubs, with Michelin mambo tires and Odyssey trailmix pedals. The kids bike could kill someone.

I personally can ride either, It makes some tricks fun and some tricks suck a lot so I don't care. Sometimes If i'm going really technical I want the coaster, but at parks and stuff, Cassette is the only logical one for me.

That being said, the Z Coaster would be my ideal one if it weren't in only a Bill Gates price range.

No way in hell I'm wasting all my savings on one hub.

I gotta say riding 15 years of cassette going to coaster really helps adjusting

This.

Switching to a coaster for the last year and a half really brought back the spice to my riding.

For the 7 session I got out of two cult drivers I really enjoyed it. But I'll wait until we see some pics and reviews about the new driver set up from merrit before I get excited. Let down by cult, blind has issues, profile to expensive, odyssey yet to see any decent info

Odyssey will be good no doubt.

Has a needle bearing driver and a 14mm female on the grind side, which all points to good things.

And a slack adjuster that works actually lol

I am intrigued. I've had a couple coasters in my day. I ran an Odyssey Reloader for a while before coasters were cool (like 2006 or so), and a Hodgepodge KHE Geisha setup.

If I got a solid deal, I would rock one again.

@Blake I'm pretty sure I'll end up just getting a Freemix but I thought this was cool .

So if you never blow bearings up and the drivers teeth wear out , I guess you can run it until it does then get a free one ?

Sounds like this Merritt driver will be compatible with the majority of the freecoasters on the market.

In which case id buy one. If they claim it to be better and have a lifetime guarantee, I don't see why not.

That's because it is a KHE style system with a bushing driver instead of bearings.

So really just the driver is different from what I understand of it.

What I would LOVE to see is someone make a kit to take a cassette hub and turn it into a freecoaster. Honestly it wouldn't be hard, the issue would be if it would destroy the hub or not.

A driver kit with something similar to the Profile setup or the Ezra setup. That's all. Wider pawls, reversed spring system and some clutch disks. Oh and a spring.

With a little time I bet I could come up with something. I just need some tools.

EDDIMUNDO! MACHINE SOMETHING UP (DISKS FOR THE CLUTCH SETUP)

Totally agree, shouldnt be that hard. But it'd be testing it and making sure it works with most cassette hubs. If you came up with something id be down to machine whatever i can do
