woohoo i have a reason to post again finally..
i finally started getting super comfortable with barspins these last few weeks and now i just do them too much lmfao...
TRANSITION, i know it might be scarier at first, but bar a hip, bar out of a bank, do it on any sort of transition, it is SOOO much easier and it makes you feel way more comfortable with tossing the bars and catching, and anytime you ride, do that stupid one foot manny bar thing where you lift the front up with one foot on the pedal and toss and catch the bars, gets the feeling good.
But yeah, transition is key, I could do them hop but very badly, then I started throwing them on my hip, in and out of banks, on quarters, into disasters and everything, and now my hop bars are cleaner than my buddy whos been doing bars for a year because he doesnt do them on transition.. also can help for spinning and bars, if you can bar a quarter, thats a 180 bar, now just do it flat.. aha..
but when it comes to the mental side of doing it over transition, dont think worst case scenerio, imagine yourself landing it, dont EVER thing, oh the worst thing that could happen is I fall on my butt, because even if its the most harmless worst case scenerio, your mind wil be stuck on that, like a negative bais sort of thing, AlWAYS THINK - I AM GOING TO LAND IT - and imagine in your head you doing it, close your eyes and picture yourself from a POV perspective, on the transition or whatever throwing, catching and riding away, makes it 10x less scary because you will genuinley convince yourself that you have done it before and can do it again... be positive boyz!
Another trick I used for barspins and I now use for a lot of tricks, is just count to 5, wipe your mind clear of everything, and say in 5 seconds I am going to do it, count to 5 outloud, whether its under your breath or singing it to the whole skatepark do it outloud and slowly, then just fucking send it... then as you train yourself that way, everytime you count to 5 shit just goes down aha.
And no matter how much you barspin, or how many do you can do in a row, you are guarunteed to hit your knee eventually, and it fucking hurts, but its worth it when you can toss bars whenever you want.
