Hi everyone, I want to ask of the inner spacer that goes between the bearings. I put the bearings and the inner spacer is touching each bearing, I still can move the inner spacer and I dont know if its too too tight. question is, inner spacer needs to move freely inside, how loosen has to be, or is ok if the inner spacer its a little tight between the bearings?

as long as it's not keeping the outsides of the bearings from being flush with the bb, your fine.
a lil loose is better than tight.

hope this helps.

Most Decent Frames will have a lip inside the Bottom Bracket that stops the Bearing pushing further into the BB. My FBM & Fit do. Sounds like you need a slightly shorter spacer. Email the shop you bought it from or drop in if you bought it from a local shop & just ask for a shorter spacer.

ok so thats false, I still need the spacer... jum, I only have to take out one spacer ring that came with the bearing kit a replace it with other one so it stays losse but not to loose...

Wrong. You need it. I don't see why everyone assumes you don't? haha. Without it, the inner race will get crushed as you tighten your cranks. I've ran without the spacer a long time again & tightened the piss out of my cranks and they didn't spin for shit. Maybe a little bit but the bearings lasted maybe 5 months or 6 tops. After I started using the spacer I could tighten the piss out of them and they spin a whole bunch lf times now given a good kick, and my last bottom bracket lasted over a year & a half

If you don't use the spacer you will pull the bearings together when you go to tighten the spindle bolts up and that just puts a bind on the bearings and the cranks don't turn freely. I ALWAYS install the spacer and 1 shim so theres no binding on the bearings.

That's how it should be. Mine sits slightly tight in mine but the bearings are flush, the shop owner measured it and found the perfect length for mine. The spacer can be tight but you don't want it loose cause then it just rattles around.

no my bearings aren't flush, I run them a little wider than the frame tube so you see 1/16" or so of the bearing.

Ive never ran one and never will because I like to have my cranks not super loose and everyone ive ridden with doesmt have one and most of their bbs are over a year old. My current one is about 16 months and spins like new. And my buddys that is just now shitting out is 3 years old. Its not necessary unless you only like your bearings super loose for crank flips...

The spacer is to prevent binding of the bearings when you tighten your spindle bolts on your cranks. Binding = bad. Ideally you want them to touch and have no play, so the bearings are snug where they should be. If it is loose it will rattle.
