Looks like you could go higher on the grit on that last pic.

Agreed, but it takes some grit to get that nasty clear-coat off! The close up digital really brings it out - looks much different from a couple feet away. And my eyes ain't what they used to be.

For some reason I find frames that have been painted look nicer when rawed. The colour under the paint seems more natural.
Paint stripper is much less of a ball ache than sand paper

Evenings getting a little chilly out in the garage around here, paint stripper isn't working very well. Last frame I rawed the color was much nicer underneath the clear, but it is also older by five or six years. Sand paper is definitely more work, but it's therapeutic after being in the salt mine all day.
