depends on your budget, and what you are going to ride...meaning street; dirt; park etc.
I agree with most on the site that it is a better investment to get a full Chromo bike for many reasons:
1. it will last forever unless you drop off a 40' cliff or it gets stolen - just b/c you are a beginner doesn't mean that you should get a cheap bike, or start out with crap
2. if you stay with BMX, you can upgrade parts easier than a whole frame, thus starting your descent into the realm of custom building and upgrades, where your pocket book dwindles as you get sucked into the beautiful world of bike parts
3. if you get out of BMX, a full Chromo bike will have higher re-sale value
Look at the Hoffman 'Bama. It is a full Chromo frame (and fork) for $399 ish. That is a steal. It's parts are not the best, but they will work for a beginner, and you can upgrade them as you start to use them more. I almost went for this bike, but have decided to wait and save some more for a Verde Luxe...if you sniff around the different on-line sites, you can find some other companies with full chromo frames (and mid level parts for upgrading) as well. The Eastern Element was one I think I found, as well as WeThePeople Trust (?) I think the trust has some upper level parts, which would put it in the $400 range, but well worth the money. This was #2 behind the Luxe for me.
