There should be a matching Cassette coming soon too! Looking forward to seeing the Hub Guards for these bad boys! Heat Treated 4140 CRMO would be a HUGE plus! I cannot see why they wont release them, its pretty much the "in thing" right now would be silly not to!

They're probably bomb proof but I can't stand seeing hubs with their bearings showing

Nothing much they just changed small things like the cone nuts.

7075 T6 Hub Shell
Thicker, Angled Hub Flanges with Narrower Spacing
Improved Bearings
Chromoly Collars

Basically they have made the ultimate grinders hub a littler more ultimate grind-able haha. George French has kept his cards close to his chest on this one, i have been pushing him for answers & he hasn't really let on much. He said there will be specific hub guards for this hub. The materials however he will not disclose at this moment in time. I'm 99% Sure they will be 4140 CRMO, Not only does it grind smoother, it lasts longer & TBH it's the flava' of the moment right now. I think it would make business sense to drop the CRMO guards. George also told me there will be a matching Rear Hub, didn't say ANYTHING about it other than it will be a Simian Cassette. I'm guessing it will have the slimmed down 7075 T6 Hub Shell, CRMO collars, CRMO Hub Guard Option & possibly a DSG & i would hope a better engagement system. 4 Pawls? There was talk of a 6 Pawl Driver for the Ratchet Hub not long after it was released. Maybe?! sideways

Basically they have ...more

I dont know if they would ever leave the 3 pawl mark. Im sure its easy to find(dont feel like searching to copy/paste) but didnt G say 3 pawls were best since its the only number of pawls that will actually all engage at the same time? I can definitely see the hubshells looking slighty different but the internals near the same. CRMO axles this time around , maybe a lighter hub...who knows.

Yeah G had said that the 3 Pawl was the best for a few different reasons but i know of a couple of G-Sport Team members who were testing the 6 Pawl one even tested an 8t Driver! As you said it will probably look different, much like the Front i would imagine with a few more "up to date" features.

I bought a 48H Hoffman back wheel for $60 brand new in April 2011. I'm still running it and trued it for the first time a couple days ago. Fucking love 48H.

Yeah i had front and back 48H and they lasted forever but i switched them over because they weren't sealed but they stayed true for a whole year of street and people putting sticks in my spokes while riding.

Bloody beautiful but now its in the past and every company just goes with the 36H trend and the only upside to 36 that i can think of is it's slightly lighter sad
Fucking new generation

Just got to say I love my 48 spoke ratchet. If the simian came in 48 I'd get one laced to a ribcage and not need wheels ever again

48h needs to make a come back, I'd run them hubs with some 48h rhynolite XL rims

True that mate. If it were trans rasta and 5-7 ounces maybe it would actually be a half decent hub.

I really like my Ratchet Hub, but for the front G-Sports hubs are too beefy for my likings.

I have 4 cross 48's... Rhyno Lite XL's... they are NOT hop 'n' wobble proof. They need to be trued as I type lol. I just bought a set of 36h g sport hubs because (a) they were cheap and (b) less rotational weight. But then again, I use my bike more for riding around the coast rather than tricks these days.

http://www.gsportbmx.com/products/wheels/elite-front-wheel/

The Simian will come in a front wheel laced to a Birdcage, called the Elite. Here's what they say about the hub:

"SIMIAN FRONT HUB

A high quality, sealed front hub with in-bound axle bolts that is guard compatible. The hub’s steel collar shape simplifies removal for bearing and axle maintenance. An oversized axle and bearing configuration is used for unmatched durability.

Spoke Configuration: 36 hole
Hub Shell Material: 7075-T6 aluminum
Hub Shell Bearings: 6804RS sealed cartridge ball bearing
Axle: 3/8″ 4130 chromoly axle bolts with 20mm, 7075-T6 aluminum female axle with steel helicoiled threads
Guard Option: Simian specific, 7076-T6 aluminum. Additional designs available soon.
Effective Flange Diameter: 45.1mm
Flange to Center Distance: 31.6mm
Weight: 266g / 10.5oz"

Looks like there will be a G-Sport 7075 guard first and maybe chromoly and plastic later on?

|

7/22/2013 12:39 AM

George not making Hub Guards for the Marmoset made me a sad panda. sad

Now he comes out with the Simian with Hub Guards when I already purchased a Daily Grind Front Hub. sad

My DG Front hub is awesome though.

"Additional designs available soon." probably redesigned GLANDs. smile
