I don't really agree with eskimo's statement about vx's being overplayed. A vx2100 was my first real camera, and it provided a less steep learning curve than a dslr or hd video camera. Yeah they take tapes, and aren't high definition, but they are pretty easy to get really solid looking footage with and comparatively not expensive compared to a dslr.

What you should get really depends on your price range.

I got a drone that records 720p hd videos, Pretty good quality and the drone is very stable when recording at all altitudes and speeds (my girlfriend pilots the drone while I ride). I also use a GoPro hd camera.
