How do you guys feel about how he promotes BMX? What do you find wrong/right about it? What do you wish he would do differently?

Nigel is full of himself.

And he claims that he is doing something new. He isn't at all. He is just copying what football players and basketball players have done for years. It's not the promotion that we want as riders.

Promotion is promotion regardless of how you choose to view it. Contests are promotion too. But I dont see anyone hating every guy that rides in xgames,simple session,munich mash or any other larger contest

No, it's different. Promotion as he is doing is not good. X Games, Simple Session, and others, are great promotion. People see it and go "damn, thats really cool, i wanna try!" But they see Nigel butt naked next to some basketball player and go "wtf thats weird"

That body issue shit never hurt any mainstream sport, how can it possibly hurt bmx? It's a declining industry. Everything is becoming generic and boring. How is bringing in new people a bad thing? It puts bmx on the level of those sports. Bmx can be on the same level as basketball or football without being super organized and full of rules. I thought bmx riders thought positive. Instead all I see is people bitching every time they see something they dont like.

I feel as if Nigel knows he's not liked and all this talk in the vid is for sympathy and to sound good rather then what is really true. He mentioned his mother having cancer . couldnt work and thats when he really had to grow up...etc I though he was gonna talk about getting a job, making income, struggling for them to live but no, he goes onto thats when I really knew I had to ride my bike...when my moms started working while being sick.etc. This is his life, his bike is an extension of him ...I see many others promoting bmx, what they do, putting edits out constantly for everyone to watch and keep things growing , I dont see that with Nigel. He's a hyped up rider who got lucky in the beginning to put him where he is now Was it also necessary to mention the bmx industry being most white?? Really?

Yes. I think it is very sweet that he is a momma's boy, but that doesn't excuse the fact he said some racist things. He didn't ride some places because he didn't want to be called a "white boy" like what the fuck. I don't know where he gets off saying that. Like being a different color matters when you ride? And people think that he doesn't care what people think too. All that fuck the haters shit is fake. He cares because he must not be sure that he is actually black.

There are a lot of reasons i don't like that.

And for another thing, i don't think BMX is even majorly white. I have black friends that ride and know a lot of black guys that ride. Sure, there are MORE white kids but there are plenty of black guys too. I don't really care what color they are, but i'm just saying he is pretty wrong by saying that.
