Okay, so i snagged one off a dude on here (Thanks ScramHype!) because I was really excited about the design. You can break it with an allen key and that's enough for me to think it's awesome. I have the solid pin one, which obviously won't have a giant difference than the hollow pin one in terms of function. Only difference is the look and weight.
By looking at it and holding it in your hands you notice the unique shape and feel of it. It's rather heavy when you compare it to a normal KMC 410 chain, which shows how much more material is involved. I had the breaker for it because It was my replacement because I had to retire my old Park Tools one. Using the breaker to fix the chain to length was not very hard at all. I just laid my old chain next to it and went for it. I bought a few extra master links just in case I need to fix it or need a gear ratio change. Then I took a look at the way the chain itself is manufactured compared to a normal one. You can see how they kept cost down by minimal machining. It has no need for the things that hold the rollers in place on a regular chain since the pin itself is 5mm thick, which is the inner diameter of a roller. I like that a lot. The masterlinks are really cool too.
Now upon installing this chain, Which is surprisingly easy, especially in comparison to normal chains, you notice how thick it really is. I have the GSport Ratchet hub and it is close to rubbing, but has enough clearance. I tightened the chain and went for a ride. I had to turn right around though, because it was too tight. Haha, i loosened it a tad and it was good. It's not the smoothest thing ever, and crank flips will have to wait because it's wearing in. It's not squeaky, just a little rough. Which is to be expected. I Imagine it will wear in fine.
Now in terms of how it holds up to abuse, it is above any chain... Ever. I am a heavy crank arm grinder, it's one of my favorite tricks, so i always have to be careful with what I have on my drivetrain. This thing holds up really well. I smacked it a few times here and there and it looks perfect.
I basically made this review for people considering it or wanting to know what it's like. Any questions you have I will try to answer them.
Thanks for reading!
