We have three in my town and they are always packed. I get up at 4 am for work Monday thru sat so comming early isn't really an option besides on Sunday. I usually just ride street because at the end of the day I don't want to deal with a packed park and people always try to start shit with me. I was curious about it hindering my growth though. I'm not very skilled. I feel like if I don't ride more park I won't be allowing myself to learn things that will be valuable like airing on a quarter or a spine transfer . Just curious what you guys think about the situation so throw in your input! Even if it's calling me a faggot! Cause that's constructive criticism

This.

Or bikers/skaters who don't know skate park etiquette.

I had fun today at the park, bunch of scooter kids kept standing in front of the flyout ramp everyone always rides, and people were getting pissed telling them to move and they wouldn't so I just came flying in & did a tailwhip and almost knocked them all out, they moved then!

My rule for people in the way is ask nicely, if they say no, ask firmly but still nicely, if they still say no, then run into them.

I dont mind too much.

It is super important to create a system. Make sure people take turns and DONT all go at once. State what you are riding and have an area where everyone sits. haha it isnt too hard really, just be nice and stuff. Be cool and help out dudes that wanna learn tricks. A skatepark should NEVER just be a place to hangout and get in the way (scooter kids, parents, ramp tramps, etc.) it makes me pissed and stuff, but they better move. And not be rude.

Or when parents let there kids run around the park and whilst your riding they completely cross your path and the kids whos parents take them to an indoor park and hire them a bike and they can hardly ride it and then get no speed so they then fall cos they cant get up the ramp, that pisses me off more than a hundred scooters in a single park

and they fall over and you get blamed and bollocked at because you are closest to the kiddo

Packed parks suck.

When it comes to skills, depends on what you want to ride. If you want to be a park rider, go ride the park whenever you can, and ignore whoever calls you out for lack of skills, those people are usually lacking in confidence about themselves, so they bash others to feel better.

If you want to ride street, go ride street.

You don't "need" to be able to do anything you don't want to be able to do. It is not a requirement to be able to jump a spine or air a quarter to ride a bike and have fun.

Hell, I SUUUUCKK at airing quarters and I have been riding since 1999. I seriously have never aired more than about 3-4 feet (back in like 2004 when all I did was ride), and RARELY clear a foot anymore, mostly because I don't care to try to boost them too much anymore.

Wow thank you for all the input ! Latetly I have been scrutinizing myself over the time it takes me to pick new things up and learn them and what you said helped ease my mind on pushing myself and what direction I want to do it in

No worries man. After all, it is freestyle. You can do whatever you want with it. If curbs are your thing, go nuts. Rails? Sure.

Flipwhips to manuals to 180s to half cab whips to manuals to 180 bar to fakie hang 5 to whiplash to fakie hop whip to 540 cab bar out your thing? Do it. Might take you 14 billion tries, but, go nuts.
