When I use the phrase "park rat" I don't mean for it to have a negative connotation. When I use that phrase, I am just referring to someone that rides park often. Park is hard. I respect park riders. I don't enjoy watching park videos but I know that park is hard.

Compare doing a feeble to airing out a vert ramp or quarter in general. There's so much that can go wrong with airing out but there isn't much that can go wrong while doing a feeble.

Now comparing Sean Burns' riding to Harry Main's is different. What Sean Burns does is MUCH different and more dangerous (in m opinion) than any kind of park riding.

When I use the term 'park rat' I usually am referring to those riders that all they do is 1080s into foam pits and resi pads all day in an indoor park. Thats a park rat to me, and everybody hates those fuckers, because they all think they're the shit and the next Harry Main. But I love riders that ride real park, as in flowing and doing huge transfers in bowls and shit like Chase Hawk or Kriss Kyle

I've said this 1000 times, I don't care if you ride street, park, or dirt, but if you ride JUST that & seemingly CANNOT ride another, that's dumb. I've known park riders who you bring to the streets and they can still throw down, then there's other park riders (park rats) who you take to the streets and they can't do shit.

I know someone who can tailwhip, backflip, truck driver, double truck driver, barspin both ways, etc, but only just recently learned bunnyhop 360s and can't grind a foot tall ledge to save his life. And just the same, I know a handful of street riders who can't even drop in on 3ft quarters, can't air, and can't flow a bowl to save their life. In my opinion, you should at LEAST have the basics of each of those down.

Ik saying park rat isint rude or offensive but I don't see the problem with that Sunday.. If they ride park they ride park and yeah I see the 1080's in 2 foam pit that's kinda park raty lol! I don't understand to well because my park has every thing bowls rails hubbas quarters walls the whole works

The only park riders I dislike are people like Ryan Taylor. Park IMO is just as hard as street (although the injuries aren't as extreme) and those guys who can air 40 feet in the air and throw 3 whips in a row I have mad respect for

This, I used to ride only street, couldn't air a quarter or hit even the smallest dirt jumps. Now I ride mainly dirt and bowl parks, but I've still been improving my street riding, although much slower than before. I can ride street, park, dirt and even a bit of really basic flatland comfortably.

Sorry but park is far more dangerous then street is, street riders break legs and get road rash, knocked out ect but park riders break far more bones then street riders do (every Kyle Baldocks broken like 20 in 6 years) and suffer more serious injuries, pretty much all really bad injuries (broken backs and necks) happen on park (as well as dirt) and that's because they are going far higher and rotating more on both axis, there is just far more that can go wrong and if it does the repercussions are worse

I disagree with this because you are comparing apples to oranges here.

Street is full of objects NOT DESIGNED OR MADE for riding, so that means rails are not built as sturdy, ledges chip faster causing falls, the other sides of obsatcles could be LOADED with sharp objects and other things, park is typically slipperier which more often means sliding out rather than catching and bending a body part the wrong way. I know a TON of riders who never get hurt on park but always get blasted on street.

Now mentioning Kyle Baldock is kind of a loaded way to show your argument, because of the type of tricks he does. TONS of flips and whips etc. This is an uneven argument.

Street riders rarely do more than a spin, whip, barspin or grind. Sure some take large drops into account, BUT AGAIN, TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEVEL OF TRICKS.

To everyone:

I've said this a ton of times. WHAT DOES IT MATTER? Honestly if someone is on a bike and having fun, who the hell are you kids to judge? People are different, and that's completely ok. To all that judge based on that preference, just stop it. Do you bash people for wearing a different color shirt? Cutting their hair different? Liking a different band? When will this ignorant shit stop?

This is what I hate about BMX. It has become SO divided for stupid reasons, and 99% of the riders claim they don't care, but a week later the site is LOADED with comments against other riding styles.
