Anyone else ever get super excited for something new then get it and be let down? I was super excited for deluxe shovelhand grips but man am I not impressed haha. Looking further back have to say gary young v2 grips (v1 were the best grips ever created), fbm rise above stem (way to blocky), brzhrd sprocket, gsport hubs (bearings are junk out of the box), odyssey ghost pads, ross tire. I think thats it haha

mine would have to be the primo jj's cause i broke them the same day i got them lol the shadow interlock i broke in 29 days (the kmc before that lasted 3x the time and costed 3 times less) and then theres my cult deharts that went bald in a month but really werent bad tires besides that

My gsport ratchet has been unmaintained for about 2-3 years now with a good amount of time of my bike being out in rainy weather and my bearings still haven't gotten close to wearing out. Yes they barely spun when I first bought them but I broke them in and to this day they're still smooth.

Also the og keyboard Ross tire is awesome, had one in the front a while ago and when I switched to a different tire I noticed a big difference in the sense that the Ross was better. Now I'm back with another Ross tire in the front

Baught one set of plastic pedals to give it a shot , I was right on my expectations plastic fucken sucks

|

10/27/2015 3:44 PM

Anything Cult. Mainly because it is all pretty basic looking. :D

But in all seriousness, I haven't really run into much I had issues with, I wasn't a fan of my Odyssey seat, but that was because I prefer a little cushion, and it had none. Animal Wedge post was ok, but got less and less grippy as time went on.

Snapped some Wellgo pedals doing a fly out tuck no handed at a jam .

The price I paid Canadian for Fireballs made me expect them to last forever sad

Premium Plastic Pedals kept coming loose even with loc-tite.

MacNeil x Defgrip grips literally only lasted me a week before I had to toss them out .

I managed to bend my Ezra stem , didn't know that was possible tbh.

Not hating just some feedback for the people who might see it

The Merritt hub guard - it doesn't fit hubs with larger flanges like the Marmoset despite claiming to be 'universal.'

|

10/27/2015 6:46 PM

Cult coaster. Two drivers in three hours of riding is pretty poor form

Cult Vans grips and the Shadow crow sprocket. :/ Neater lasted long enough for me.

I recall them specifically stating it won't fit all hubs, but it should fit most any hub with smaller flanges. Universal isn't always universal. So...

I've had a few parts I've been disappointed with.

Kink Viridian front hub. Felt & spun great until I rode it 1 time, then the bearings felt and spun like an unsealed wheel on its last leg.

Cult Vans grips. Nothing on their part, I was just disappointed they didn't live up to the hype. I tried them, didn't like the feel of them at all even though everyone I know was into them and hard.

Shadow Interlock v2 chain. And yes I installed it correctly, chain alignment was perfect, never bashed it, etc. Rode it for a couple months but had the shits of it breaking and the pins would always pull apart easy as shit. It was so bad that I could push a lot of the pins out by hand if I wanted to.

Shadow Strike stem. Snapped a piece off the clamping area to the fork... I'm dumb and figured it was a fluke and bought another one (Mostly only because it was the only white stem the shop had in stock) and ended up cracking that one soon after.

Shadow Rant v2 cassette. Rode it for about 8 or 9 months before snapping part of the flange to the drive side off.

Shadow in general.

Jeez. I don't know too much, I didn't like the Aerospace rims much. Hazards and 7KAs are better and stiffer.

I didn't like the Fit T/A tire much at all. Pretty sticky on concrete but the moment you bother with riding on something wet it would wash out with the slightest turn.

Animal MTT tire in 2.35. I liked the craziness and the way it feels solid at lower psi but it doesn't fit in any forks. It's just heavy and dumb. I think the 2.1 is good probably.

I didn't like the Colony Wasp hub. It was dog shit literally. I hated it's fake ass engagement and its near impossible to work on too. Every bit of the hardware strips as soon as you use it.

all grips, besides that am more than satisfied with the parts i get because i usually do lots of research on them before getting them cause not all parts are for everyone, we all got diferent styles and not all parts suit us, to avoib disapontmemt you better figure out what will really fit you instead of going trendy, but all grips sucks there only good for a few weeks but thats just the way things are

I've been running the Shadow Rant v2 cassette for around 6 years. It's still as strong and smooth as the day I bought it.

If it ain't broke...

kink senec pedals - plastic/fiberglass compound doesn't slide well. the endcap is too large to avoid contact with grind surface once bodies are barely worn. they tighten on their own to where the pedal barely moves. bushing system is crap compared to jcpc and bpe's.

mechanik half link chains - had two and both snapped at the bends several times. full link chains for life now.

cinema tungsten hubs - bearings and driver died quickly. i was a beginner and not very good or hard on my bike.

all "slim" tripod seats - i have bought several thinking they looked good until i had them in my hand.

profile cranks - i think its more the 19mm 48 spline, 3-piece design that is flawed as opposed to these cranks specifically. they came loose every time i rode them, even with threadlock, and eventually the splines wore down making them come loose even faster. also hate the dumb 7mm bolt.

shadow vultus bars - holy flex. guess its to be expected from handlebars that weigh next to nothing.

Good for you, I did this after less than a year of not even riding as hard as I do now.

My vultus bars are going on two years almost. They do flex like hell though.

Gsport Birdcages. They are super light though, but on the same note I had lighter Alienation rims that held up better. Cracked the seem, a few nipple holes, and covered it in dents all in 3 months.

Odyssey SXTN stem. Didn't take much for it to begin pinching, I always had to be super careful tightening it.

Fly Ruben Rampera tires. Didn't last too long before I tore the sidewall on one.

Daily Grind NDS guard. Had to run 3 washers under it and after a few weeks it dented in on my spokes.

Primo Simmons grips. So goddamned comfy but only lasts a few sessions. Boy grips were pretty similar.

KHE Mac tire. Worst tire ever. Even when running 90+ psi, it would fold over on simple tricks and I was going through multiple tubes a day due to pinch flats.

Odyssey Keychain. I keep breaking it the same way I break most every chain, I keep snapping the links around the rollers. Really wish companies would add some extra material in that area, most chains seem pretty thin there.

Eastern Birectional. Seemed like a good hub till the pawl retaining ring snapped and jammed up the hub.

BSD Jersey barrier and Animal PYN. The plastic sleeves would always snap on the metal cores.

Shadow Slicker Sleeves. Waste of money, they'd crack apart randomly on grinds. They did slide great though.

Primo Binary v2 pegs. The alloy cores get really beat rather fast, I'll be getting chromoly core pegs next.

Coalition Holy Cross Bars. Holy flex batman.

primo n4fl v2, bearings go to shit even after replaced. eclat fireballs wore down too fast. odyssey bottom bracket broke fast and the cranks got stuck. bsd pedals wobble so much and keep coming apart inside and one bent.

Good for me? Why is everyone so fucking rude on this site? I was just stating that my same hub lasted much longer comparatively speaking. I thought it was worth mentioning. It's not a fucking contest.
