The classic lenght is 4", now with tech street riding and grinds like crookeds you can find some pegs up to 4.5"

I like some 4.5"s on the back, they help me for my feeble hards, on the front I run classic 4" I don't see the point of longer ones, even for crooks, maybe cool for some smith whatever spin off but I don't do these.

4.5" pegs make peg chinks a lot easier too

Are like double pegs on rails much easier with longer pegs?

Nope.
They're useless on rails for double pegs grind, because you'll grind at the closest point possible of your pegs, even on the guard, round rails feels so good with nice round shaped guards.
