Not sure whether to actually get some or not, thinking I'd probably just rip them up within an hour

I wouldn't bother mate, all i've ever rode is metal pegs, hard to beat them I reckon.

Whilst they do have issues with longevity i cannot deny that plastic pegs open up a whole new world of grinding when it comes to different obstacles such as rough concrete/brick ledges, you can just glide over them. But there is a pay off for that as i mentioned longevity is an issue. I would go with them just for a change, i run plastics right now, i will be switching back to metal though, Gunna go with heat treated 4140 pegs (which i was also going to suggest) because I'm fed up of paying for replacement sleeves. Have you looked into the heat treated chromo pegs? They really take a beating, Ok you're not going to glide across concrete & brick ledges like you would with the plastics but it will take a shit load longer before you need to replace them!

Think I'm just going to stay with shadow little ones, I prefer my bike to weigh heavier as well, may buy some sleeves in the future so I can open up more opportunities but I think I'm fine for the time being, thanks though man

But in all seriousness, I like my plastic sleeves, they wear out fast as fuck though, I went through a set in 5 days of riding, granted I wants mostly grinding unwaxed concrete

i ride plastics in the front and metals in the back. i find that i get hung up a lot easier up front on ledges and whatnot so the sleeves definitely help. i used to run all plastics but it became too expensive so now i just ride them up front
