Has anybody had any bad experiences with these? I just ordered them off of empire because they were only $100. Didn't want hollowbites because theyre hollow and more expensive

Powerbites are quite possibly the best cranks ever made. They are an evolution of GT cranks from waaaay back when. The only thing that is an issue with them are the pedal bosses. The older ones didnt have replaceable bosses so if they stripped your fucked. However i doubt Tom @ Empire is selling cranks that old! I would think you have order the replaceable boss versions. Congratulations though you just bought the last pair of cranks you will ever need. They are a little heavy but you can get a Titanium spindle & Bolts to lighten them up abit.

Powerbites are awesome. I ran them for ages until I tried swapping pedals and my pedal boss unscrewed. Just make sure you grease the threads of your pedals and it should be all good. May have to grind down the arm abit of you want to run a small mds aswell

The shadow kimbrough cranks are powerbite clones that have better pedal bosses.

Are the ones without pedal inserts really bad? My friend wants to trade my Colony stem for his 2nd generation Powerbites and I'm not sure if I should do it.

How old were the tibia's? I've read good things about powerbites, but I just don't think I could trust aluminum crank arms. Just me tho. And then there's this......

I just bought tibia's but haven't rode them yet. (waiting on wheels) Bonedeth penetrators don't drop till September, but that's what I really wanted.

That being said they have been around a while and some people really love them. Can't beat the price either. Post an update after you give em shit for a bit.

This. (first part)

I could never feel safe on aluminum cranks. Aluminum doesn't bend either to show that it's weakening, it'll just snap on you if you don't inspect it regularly for cracks. Those Tibia's look strong as fuck though, if my Animal's ever break I'm gonna look into them, or the Bonedeth ones.

There haven't been recorded cases of snapped powerbites, hollow bites yes but not powers. The only issues of cracking I've heard are from meat head doing up the pinch bolts too hard and uneven

Dude powerbites have been around longer than you.

Who said not to hop on Ali rails? They just slide slow and shitty due to the poor grade of Ali that they use in the construction of hand rails.

We use Ali for stems, sprockets, hubs and they are all fine

I've always loved the power bites but gave them to a friend when he snapped his crank arm and i got myself hollowbites V1(Because i wanted to keep original) and the hollow ones have lasted me just as long. basically if you can get either especially new don't take any chances and get them right away, you won't be sorry at all and the spindle doesn't seem to ever bend either.
over all i think the best thing about them is that the crank arms are straight and don't have the offset like most cranks.

Hope you love your new ones mate and may the power be with you

Theyre less than a year and a half old, i honestly have no idea how they cracked. the whole reason i got the tibias was because garrett and sean burns and other dudes like that rode them. was kinda pissed when i found the crack, but id rather just spend the money on new cranks now before i have to get stitches or something in my legs because of my cranks. was going to warranty them but on eclats website it says they only have a 90 day warranty against manufacturers defects. but yeah i got them for christmas of 2011, and they were the oldest part on my bike besides my seatpost.
