Problem with bolt sprocket?

I have a bolt sprocket on my bike, and sometimes when I'm pedaling, the bolt coming off the crank arm tears past the bolt hole in the sprocket, which has obviously damaged my sprocket. The metal is literally torn from the pressure. I didn't know if this was a common mistake/problem when having cheap sprockets, or if my bike doesnt have enough spacers or what....

Is it actually a bolt or is it just a bit of steel welded to the crank arm?

If its the welded bit on the arm, try and see if there is a spacer between the crank and the sprocket. If so remove it and it will pull the sprocket In closer.

Do you have one of those shitty complete bike sprockets? If so a fatter aftermarket one could help.

Do you have a sprocket adapter? When I very first started BMX, I didn't know and ate through some of my crank and like almost 3 sprockets, thank god they were cheap POSes..
