Recommendations for 'harder' grips? ODI's are so spongey :(

I hate ODI's until right before they're so thinned-out that they're near death. I rode a bike a while back that had incredibly tough grips, felt more like knurlled plastic than rubber...
Any recommendations for grips that don't feel like stress-release balls? I like something that feels good in my hand, but prefer something where I feel in direct control of my bars, not approximate-control due to bit of a sponge between me and my bars!

Duo Doyle grips are harder than a middle schooler who just discovered porn.

No but seriously, they come stock on Verde bikes & at the shop I work at I put a bunch of them together and every one of them felt hard as fuck, you might like them but personally I would hate to ride them.

^ can i ask what your signature means / refers to?
And thnx will look into those, too; I love that the ODI's have a uniform grip pattern (i'm anal/OCD in that i don't like 'expressive' grip patterns w/ variation to them), and they're soo damn long I can pull them to where my bars start to bend inward, but the softness/squishiness just kills me... am excited to check out the XL's :D

Just got the white Edwin's today and they are twice as hard as my Odi's were, but I was running the odi soft before.

Kind of off topic but I totally want an odi beer cozie , I've got a unit one with a sexy chick on a quadangle but I never use it , if I had an odi one is probably use it

Those are like the softest grips ever there so thin and soft. I'd recommend Cult Vans they are hard, thick, sticky, and last long or maybe some Fbm Double fisters there like the cult vans just more solid not as rigid.

And they have a feather design on them that you can rotate and move to where ever you wear down grips the most so the last a little longer than usual, I have had mine since last Christmas and there is only little signs of wear on them now

The cult vans grips are pretty hard. I've ridden mine a few times so maybe i just need to break them in still but they are definitely alot harder then my banton grips

They are soft, but not nearly as soft as my longnecks were. And the Edwin's are twice as thick as the longnecks. But they do wear out quicker than odi grips. I was running the soft compound odi's before these btw. Guess that's why the Edwin's seem hard to me, I got used to the soft odi's

I had the super soft odi longnecks they were grippy but really spongy and they stretched a lot lol but I think as long as they make Edwin's this is what I'm going to go with. Everyone says the Edwin's are softer but mine aren't very soft yet. Lol

They do get softer but it makes it grippy. Also I just started riding my jump bike with primo new logo grips they look like odi but thicker

If possible (for barspin comfort)...

Why not Lock-On Grips? Although they DO cost a good bit more....

EDIT: For barspin comfort meaning if you were to find a pair where the lock rings won't get in the way.

actually i may just do that lol! I have handlebars (from a fixie) somewhere w/ locked on grips that were real high quality... will check that out to see if they fit my bmx bars, that's not a bad idea smile Cannot recall how soft/hard they were, think they were middle of the road, but for free that may not be a bad idea!

And, barspins? heh, when i mess up and jam my finger(s) I cannot imagine that the toughness of the grip is of much importance; my problem w/ the soft grips is that the way I ride, i tend to grip the hell out of them, much more than is probably needed, because i'm afraid to lose grip. It's unconscious, but when riding we just randomly tear through town and there's usually not a ton of staying at 1 spot, getting ready for a trick, it's 'always-on' type riding, so i end up w/ throbbing forearms that are way outta proportion to the riding i did.

// I know they're useless, but anyone know of "stolen bike" threads/boards? My brother just left his WTP justice outside a store this evening and it got jacked sad
