So I want to know why do dans in there catalog and website on there brakeness bike and rims they said dans doesn't recommended riding brakeness and about 75% of bmxer ride brakeness. So what's the point of them saying that and people still going to ride with out brakes.

To save themselves from lawsuits from stupid parents who want to sue after there kid runs into a bus. Not to mention in most states riding brakeless is considered illegal.

It's just dangerous. If you're looking to buy a complete, it might be a bad idea for you to be brakeless because of the lack of bike control and such.

It's just a legal thing, so it doesn't look like they endorse riding brakeless so if some kid is hurt they're not to blame.

In a nutshell.

It's also illegal to sell bikes to the consumer without including some sort of brake, which is why older "brakeless" bikes came with caliper brakes. But now everyone's switched to removeable mounts, so you can get normal u brakes as usual. I've ridden brakeless for like 14 years(except when I used to race, but they won't allow you on the track without them) and never had a problem, where as some people in the park have zero bike control and shouldn't be anywhere near a brakeless bike because they just smash into people. So whether you choose to use them or not is on you, but you may get a ticket depending on whether a cop wants to be a dick or not (ask me how I know...lol), and same goes for if you injure yourself.

If you know how to ride a bike decently and feel comfortable riding , take them off . If you're still learning the basics , keep them on. .

As well as mentioned , it's just a legal thing . Same for all "riders should wear..." crap

this is funny...
dans sells a few completes (such as) that don't have brake mounts but they include a caliper brake anyway. it's law to include a brake but apparently not law to have a way mount them lol.

Legally you have to have 1 working brake (don't quote me on it, I'm not a lawyer :p) so they don't recommend it but I don't think the law is enforced. I've been overtaken - and overtaken myself, thanks long downhills - by police cars and they sort of look and just ignore the fact you could quite easily kill someone or yourself if you were to crash. I've even spoke to police officers and they just tell you to be careful, but if someone wanted to take a large company to court for encouraging illegal activity (I guess that's how it's worded) then they would win so Dan's just needs to cover its ass =^,^=

I used to have working leg like you, then I took a stem to the knee.

Far to many safety rules and regulations in the world today , we should be encouraging and endorsing risky and dangerous activities , need to let natural selection do its work and wipe up out the stupid and less superior , the world is getting overpopulated quick , at this rate we will all be eating insects in 25 years

If a kids stupid enough to ride brake less and gets hit by a bus his parents should have no right to sue, they should be sued for the damage to the bus , they need to look in the mirror and realize they didn't raise that smart of a kid

This right here. Actually pretty much all states it is illegal. It's actually in many cases illegal not to have TWO BRAKES that can skid on dry pavement.

Also many states have a Helmet law for minors too. Most go unenforced though.

I would suggest keeping them on and wearing a helmet anyway, because safety is awesome and brakes are fun!

EDIT: Spelling "brakeless" correct is a requirement for removing brakes.

All you need to mount a caliper brake is one little hole in the seatstay bridge, which most frames have. You don't need mounts.
