WTF?! What caused this? I'm shocked.

EDIT: Demolition Website Update: http://demolitionparts.com/blog/team-update/goodbye-stevie/

AND VOLUME (see below)

Demolition seems like they got rid of him, while Volume seems like he left them, if you read their website columns on it.

i just saw this and was like why?!?!
did he have any arguments with the companies or what

Volume and demo r the same companies. so if hes off demo then hes obviously off volume..

Stevie can probably make a lot more money on a different team. Both those companies are decent but they arent as popular as some of the bigger names. Stevies a pretty big name in bmx.

well both of them are under 180 distribution. my theory is that he left volume and then was kicked from demolition for doing so. obviously, this is just a theory but damn... this is big because now he has the decision between federal, fiend, fit, or premium. (and anyone else, but those are the most likely candidates)

stevie is a big name in bmx, but wouldn't it make sense for pat casey, chris doyle, mike hucker, dennis enarson, rob wise, kris fox.. etc. to do the same thing since they are also big names in bmx?

EDIT: I'm just saying he's not the only big name that was on the team.

Demo is Volumes parts company, the guy that started Volume started demo, there the same company, well the same owner at least.

From Volumes website:

VOLUME BIKES HISTORY
Volume Bikes was started by Brian Castillo after he rode for S&M Bikes and Primo. During his early riding career, he worked at Primo in their R&D/Marketing dept. and helped re-brand their image/ products. Brian has always been an excellent rider who had a lot of input on the design and development of the BMX parts he was riding. Hence, Volume Bikes was born. Volume is a small rider owned company that produces high quality frames, forks, bars and bikes for the hardcore BMXer. Brian even has a little BMX racing roots in him and it comes through in the strength and lightness of his designs.

Soon after the success of Volume Bikes, Brian launched Demolition Parts, to make… well you guessed it, BMX parts! Demolition makes cranks, wheels, grips, stems, pedals… pretty much everything you need for your bike. Just like Volume, it’s all very high quality and designed to perform.

So S&M, Fit, and Revenge are the same company?

So Shadow and Subrosa are the same company?

So Sunday, G-Sport, and Odyssey are the same company?

I can keep going... company =/= distribution/ownership

g-sport was started by george and odyssey offered for him to be under them and design parts, as well as keep his own company. therefore they are not the same company.

Weird, I've never seen G-Sport Twombolt cranks. Which obviously exist since they're the same company.

Just because two companies are run by the same person (Or the same person is at least involved) does not mean the companies are "the same company."

I wonder if his frames going to be on sale?

|

10/4/2012 1:30 PM

just because he left demo shouldn't mean he should have had to leave volume. biz and volume parted ways but he still rides demo parts. he must have pissed brian off or somethin. i can't believe dc didn't get rid of him after he was clearly wearin etnies in a dans edit. he's a talented rider so he'll find a new home rather quick i'm sure

Sometimes it does though, two companys with the same corporate holdings, are considered the same "company" Acura and Honda for example, two separate "companys" by name, yet Acura is a subdivision of Honda.

Not trying to argue though as its largely a matter of opinion, unless your getting all technical and looking up u.s. tax laws. Also in different countrys the definition of "company" is legally different.

WOW, this topic sure did get disrailed quickly, back to stevie gettin the boot.

Transworld says rumor has it that he has a frame deal lined up. Could Stevie have been getting ready to bail anyway, and thats why it seems he got kicked from Demo?

From the demo press release: "Unfortunately due to a series of recent actions and events we have decided to let Stevie Churchill go from Demolition Parts."

Seems like he might of been lookin for a new frame sponsor, Volume had to let him go, and Demo had to follow suite.

GOD DAMN IT, Dans dont have mystery machines in 20.75 in black. Wanted this frame awhile now. Gotta check Albes.

Albes has, yeaaaa, GO ON SALE GO ON SALE GO ON SALE GO ON SALE GO ON SALE GO ON SALE

I think the word they were looking for is "sister" company. Obviously Castillo started Volume, and later started Demolition as a companion to his frame company.

Sidenote: I would also consider S&M/Fit and Shadow/Subrosa sister or "companion" companies as well.

If you're riding your bike to solely become sponsored one day, you're riding for all the wrong reasons.
