Saving For New Bike

My Target Mongoose piece of crap finally just kicked the bucket after exactly one year. I bought the 2 year protection plan, so they said that I have a nice chance of getting a $140 check. If not check, then store credit.

But regardless of that check or store credit, I am going to save my money for We The People Curse 2016 bmx bike. In Matt Black. It's the best bike that me and my father saw for my budget. I have $60 saved out of the $380, lol.

I'm so excited!!! Any tips on how to get money quicker? I get about $25-$35 allowance every week. I have to buy crickets for my reptiles every week ($9). But I'm thinking if maybe cutting grass or something.

so youll have the $140+$60 youre pretty much half way there and with that allowance itll take about two months to save up enough which isnt too bad

you could sell any stuff you have around that you dont need or like you said cut grass, wash cars etc.

Yep! And my birthday is September. So mom and dad said they will give me some cash and grandma also. All togetger, not counting the check, I should have possibly $200-$215 by the end of September. That would be awesome. Can't wait. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks so much

EDIT: I got a couple more dollars and it's now at $290 more I need. I'm making $40 this evening. So it will be at $250 later today

Thanks everybody! I did the math. Including the bike store putting it together and tax on everything, I only need $265 more. I'm making $12 tomorrow. So it will be at $253 tomorrow. And I get $25 allowance ($9 for crickets). That's an additional $17. So 253-17=236!!!

Yep...I got my first good bike by mowing lawns and doing odd jobs for older people in the neighborhood. Having to work for it made it that much more cool.

I only have $238 more to save! I should hear back Monday and see if I get a check. If not, oh well, I can save. wink

By the way, the goal is to save $500

How old are you? When I was 13 or so, my brother and I mowed 4 lawns weekly. $20 for a small lot, 30 for a corner lot. It felt good having a couple hundred bucks in my sock drawer that young! My son will be pushing a mower the summer he turns 13, too.

Anyway, congrats on the imminent upgrade, and good luck with your reimbursement.

I am 17 almost 18 sir. Saving this money is fun. Grandma has been extremely generous giving me a bunch of chores. I only need about $230 more.

I have also been looking at the Sunday Scout 2017. Opinions on either the We The People Curse 2017 or Sunday Scout 2017?

Thank you all again, I will keep you posted on my saving and when I buy/receive it! smile

I am leaning towards the 2017 Sunday Scout Raw because of its chromoly parts and overall quality. For the same price AND dealers 20 minutes away or less from my house, I will take that. Any objections about a Sunday Scout Raw?

i mean i know youre set on that bike. but you could always go on craigslist and whatnot to see if you can snag a solid deal for cheaper

I haven't looked on Craigslist because I got a good bike from there before and it broke on me.

I'm not comfortable with used bike to be honest

I have great news! Target said they will email me a $140 gift card, but grandma said she will trade me $140 cash for the gift card! And I did a lot of extra chores for grandma. I'll have my $450 this week!!!

So my plan is to go too Fridrich in Cleveland and see what they have. If they don't have anything I like, I'm going to order the Sunday Scout 2017. So excited!

EDIT: There is a dealer basically down the street (12 minutes away) that is an authorized Sunday bike dealer. So they said if I come in they can special order the Scout. And only charge me the $400 for bike and $32 tax! They don't charge for assembly! I should be able to order it Wednesday or possibly, tomorrow!
