I've heard this hub has a really weak axle, and is it worth getting one, since it was 2012/13 where there were always complaints on the axle breaking, so have shadow fixed this problem with their more recent models? Or is this still an issue and are the new models actually good for all round tricks (grinding etc)

I don't know about the cassette but I assume they use a similar axle in the raptor coaster and that one bends really easy. I have a new raptor coaster and that axle bent really fast. I personally don't like shadow parts as every shadow part I have had has broken on me really quickly. Maybe someone else can chime in wether the freecoaster and cassette share an axle.

Yeah I'm only asking since I've been offered £70/$100 for a shadow front hub and cassette both laced to a shadow rim.

No, the axle is not the same. Dan's Comp has pictures of both.

The axles aren't identical but I am assuming that they are made in pretty much the exact same way. I think that any 14 mm shadow axle is going to be pretty much identical (with a few small things different) to the others. I'm just saying that the 14mm axle on my raptor bent really easily and I doubt that the cassette is any more beefed up or anything
