Brakes vs no brakes

|

7/14/2014 6:32 PM

this is kind of like asking what should you get when you're thirsty, only you know the answer.

Do you want brakes? Then ride them. Do you not want brakes? Then don't ride them.

Don't ask other people what you should do when it's your preference.

If you need to ask other people whether or not you need brakes you should probably keep them on.

No brakes if you go 5 mph at foot tall ledges. Brakes if you go any faster.

Try going to a mechanic with a car and ask him to take your brakes off a car ,the same awnser will apply to a bike if you need to ask people weather or not you should take your brakes off

|

It depends on the atmospheric pressure above the closest sea or ocean to you.

|

7/14/2014 10:54 PM

depends, are you going to use the bike for A-B? are you going to use it for trail riding? and street riding?
If YES to any of these^

Then YES have brakes. straight cable, or a gyro if your doing more street stuff.

will you just be taking it to the skatepark via car and just using it on closed area's just for bmx like a skatepark, then whatever you feel like. but You should just play it safe and keep brakes on your bike. trust me, cars hurt.

Do you want brakes? Then ride ...more

This right here.

If you don't have them and are asking this, put em on. Takes maybe half an hour. Try them for a full week. If you hate em, take em off.

Front brakes are always a goos option, nose picks over footjams.

Brakes all the way. I am riding brakeless now but thats due to components needing to be replaced and me being to cheap to buy a new brake set up. But for every time I see a brakeless thread, I always try to mention those who ride brakeless know what they are getting into. lol even the pros who ride brakeless im sure have had some pretty gnarly crashes that may have been avoided if they had brakes.

Its a skatepark not a playground.

I've been riding brakeless for 10+ years. It's fun but has it's disadvantages, especially in park and dirt. I think about brakes sometimes, then remember my frame doesn't have mounts so I have no choice. Lol. It's all good tho because I just whip/slide the rear end to slow down usually instead of tearing up my shoes. Other disadvantage is it's technically against the law to not have them. Trust, I've been stopped and got a ticket for it before. Most cops have more important things to worry about, but there's always that one dickhead. But like everyone said, it's your decision and preference, not ours. Works great for some, awful for others. But WuTrail is probably right. Lol

You should put brakes on then smear a thin layer of ketchup on your rim , you will instantly have the loudest most kickass skids of all time

Combine that with the old pop can dirtbike noise trick instant success
