I use a 9.25 bars because i'm a pretty big dude and it's more stable at higher speeds. I cant ride bars that are under 8.5 What do you prefer?

I prefer the bars with the best deals on wings and beer

|

The biggest bars I've rode are 8.75 I usually stay with 8.5 been wanting to try some 9s though. I'm 6'3"

im 6' and ride a front load with 8.7 bars. Feels small though so I will try flipping my stem, or I will get taller bars in the near future since I am growing. Personally, I think taller bars are better because they put less pressure on your lower back => less back pain/muscle soreness/whatever it is. And a bit less pressure on your wrists I guess

This.

But for bikes, I can get used to whatever. Back in the days of my youth small bars were all the rage. Trends come and go, and I have noticed bar size is even coming down a tad again.

I love my 8,75" bar but I also ride a high rise topload stem (33mm) and 7mm of spacers under. (I'm 6'1' feet tall)
Here is my perfect height setup but a single spacer can make a big difference, if I add one I'm too high and I don't like that feeling.
But if I was riding a frontload stem, I would probably ride a way bigger bar, like... 9.5" or something in that range.

6ft, Sunday freeze, 1cm of spacers and 8.85 Benny L bars. I like a high front end..

6 ft 1

Ride a 9 inch rise with top load stem.

Still feels to small.

I want to try out a 9.5 or even a 10' Crumlish FU 4 pcs. They look rad.

More leverage on stuff from what I;ve heard.

Also, Ive moved from a 8.5. Feels like day and night. Less pain in lower back and in wrists.

If they stop making big rise bars, i am killing myself.

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

6 ft tall, 8.5 Federal Drop Bars, like 10mm spacers and a gyro plate with an upside-down front load stem.

Man I'm thinking about going back down to 7.5" from 8.75"

I get more air and It feels better going fast.

I have 8.5s with a topload. They feel fine. I probably wouldn't go any taller than 8.5 if I can help it. Though, I think I worry more about the width of my bars rather than the height.

Even as a small man at 5'5" i could do with a taller bar i have terrible back pain most of the time, even off of the bike but i cant stand wide bars, always chop mine to 25. Just once nowadays id like to find a bar that i can cut to 25 and run both brakes on.

That´s the general way, the higher, the better, until you are too high and lose pop, but you'll notice that if you go too high one day.

I'm somewhere between 5 6 and 5 9 and I used to run big bars, 8.85 was great. Moved to 9 rise and I found hopping up stuff and getting tucked up way harder and taking more effort. Went down to 7.8 and I never looked back, just wish i could still buy a fresh pair of scerbos. Supposedly gt is re releasing the bars scerbos were modeled after though, as soon as some 4 piece come out in under 8.25 I will buy em

Get some used bars in the 8 rise range, try it out and see how you feel

9.25" bars with a Sunday Freeze Topload stem (33mm Rise). It's the business. I'm 6'0". I'm an older fellow so I don't need to be hopping up high ass stuff.

Lmao I prefer 9" bars on a Sunday freeze Stem (52mm) with about 1cm of spacers.

I tried 10" FuBars.... Never Again!!!

I might be wrong, but isn't bar height subject to everything else below the bar's?

Meaning you also have to factor in the height of everything below to get a true measurement of your front end?

Example:
*Steerer Tube Length

*Headset Dust Cover/ Spacer Height

*Stem Stack Height

*Stem Rise

*Bar Rise

I'll use my bike setup as an example...

Example:
*Steerer Tube Length: 172mm

*Headset Dust Cover/ Spacer Height: 13mm

*Stem Stack Height: 31.5mm

*Stem Rise: 30mm (upright)

*Bar Rise: 9'' (228.6mm)

Total: 475.1mm

Here would be my set up if I flipped the stem and ran 10" bars...

Example:
*Steerer Tube length: 172mm

*Headset Dust Cover/ Spacer Height: 13mm

*Stem Stack Height: 31.5mm

*Stem Rise: 1.5mm (invert)

*Bar Rise: 10'' (254mm)

Total: 472mm

Bigger bar's, but over all 3.1mm lower than my 9" set-up (because of the stem flip).

So don't we need to include the above info to ultimately compare front end height in correlation to rider height?

I'm 6'3" btw and yes I'm bored... lol

I like my bars short & narrow, everyone always bitches about my bar size but I think they forget that it's my preference, not theirs.

8.66" tall, I think 26" or 27" wide, front load stem slammed with no spacers underneath besides the top cap one.

I tried a top load stem before, liked it for the most part and got used to it quick, but my tailwhips were all fucked up and I couldn't even get close anymore cause it was a lot harder to keep my weight over for some reason. Rode with the top load for a week or two then put my front load back on cause I couldn't take it anymore.

|

8/20/2015 2:47 PM

I used to run 8.5 bars or 8.65 bars with a front load, then ran the same bars with a top load, now run bsd raiders which are 10" with a top load but eventually gunna go down to 8.7" credence bars with a top load and gunna be running new forks so will get the perfect stack height with spacers smile

|

8/20/2015 3:38 PM

I'm 6'7" riding 9" bars on a 22mm topload. Eventually I'd like to get a taller stem, and some taller bars, but I can't find any bars with my ideal specs. I also have a fuckload of spacers.
