So I haven't found a good Local bike shop. I went to two and they stocked 3x as many fixies and 2x as many road bikes as they did BMX bikes. The customer service was even worse than the trends, the one that actually knew stuff were more concerned about scooters.

My question goes for all the So Cal guys, what bike shop do you go to? I don't care if it's in Huntington Beach or as far out as Riverside. I'd like to support the locals but I feel better off ordering off Dans.

I go to Russels bike shop in Downey
The Bellflower bike shop is really good to and close to the skatepark, which has trails built by their sponsored riders

I'm not from SoCal, but East County BMX is strictly BMX.

EDIT: A little further away than I thought.

at least it has bmx, in charlotte there are a total of 0 bmx bicycles in any shops.

|

trails are not skateparks, they exist solely from the work and dedication of local riders. so next time you start complaining about not having local trails to ride, you only need look at yourself.

@Roqfan: Downey isn't too far for me.

@oscar5788: Is that more of a BMX shop or just a Bicycle shop. Carson Schwinn is about 5 minutes walking riding distance but I want to support a BMX shop rather than a local bicycle shop if you know what I mean.

@Fondue: Holy fuck that place is far... 2 hours away is a bit out of my range when I get less than 10 MPG. Is it really worth it?

@king_swag: Epic BMX looks legit. Can you order practically anything from them?

|

7/19/2012 3:08 PM

The ones I posted have other bikes of course but has a bmx section and the workers there are mainly bmxers so they know whats up and order you almost anything you want

East County is my LBS and well worth it. Henry is a cool guy and will get you just about anything you will ever need.

Probably not worth the drive unless you arrange for them to build you a complete custom.

How far is Palm Desert from you? Kings Ride Shop is there.

Danscomp, fuck LBS's, I do some half assed research and all of a sudden know 10x more than bike shop employees, tired of asking them ?'s and getting the "I dont have a fucking clue what your talking about blank stare"

having said that even though the ones roqfan's talking about are real close to me, I have not been to them, they are probably cool.

Compared to the other closest shop(cyclery U.S.A) to me yea it is most of the people that work there ride at hunt skate park

Those are exactly the shitty LBS I was referring to. I went to Bicycology and they only had a couple of Fit's. Then I went to Twins and they had a lot more BMX stuff but the guy was too busy talking to this guy about a damn scooter... I finally get the guy's attention and then he doesn't know anything.

I'll try The Bicycle Source (seems like a pretty cool little shop) as well as EpicBMX and the one in Downey. I'll also go through East County BMX when I save enough money to make a complete after I buy a custom Standard Juke.

/thread. Lol

I never really found any other 'bmx oriented' shops other than them while I was out there other than racing only type shops, which doesn't help us street/park/trails people. And Bicycle Source's park looks like fun. Lol. There's a big shop in Oceanside on PCH that has a 'street section' upstairs, but the last time I was there, it was pretty limited and it was just normal people working there that didn't know much just like most shops.
