So, I finally decided to build my own wheel, something I've been wanting to do for years and never got round to it.

I got a Demolition Hub which I'm going to lace to an Odyssey Quadrant Rim.

Here's the hub not sure on the model:

Going to stick to pretty standard stuff and go 3 cross.

I would just ask at the local bike shop, but I simply don't have one. The next time I'll have chance to go in and personally ask at the shop is a couple of weeks, and I don't want to have to wait that long, so if any of you can help it will be most appreciated.

Looks like either a Mary Kate or Bulimia 2, is it male or female axle?

Pijin spoke calculator says 189mm, so you can either go 188 or 190 for an "off the shelf" spoke. I'd go 188 with a 14mm nipple just to play it safe so that you don't have spokes sticking out of the nipple and possibly puncturing your tube.

Bulimia, the original one. Spoke size would be 188.7mm, 189mm will do though for a nice even number.

Thanks for that

Knowing it's the Bulimia really helps.

So, you think I'd be OK with 188? I can find 188, but struggling to find 189.

you can also calculate them yourself

Yeah, you can calculate spoke length on a load of sites (Once you know the hub model), but the spoke size it gives isn't always standard, hence my question about the 188. Think I'll go with 188 and get a longer nipple if needed. Thanks again sundaybmxRR and Oddity.

If the number the spoke length calculator is giving you is correct, you should round down and do 188 for sure.

You're welcome. Check out Gsport George's wheel building guide if you haven't found a walkthrough yet, it's real thorough, that's how I learned way back. Just remembered that guide was made back when 48 spoke wheels were still very common, but it's still the same concept except just cross over two and under the third for three cross lacing.

Cheers Oddity, Yeah I already checked Georges guide. That guys a legend. I grew up about half an hour from Sheffield and always had a soft spot for G-Sport (even 20 year ago), always been some of the best quality parts in my view.
