Spooked

So roughly 90% of the time I just do tricks I'm comfortable with and have fun with. I rarely try new things to an extent ; I build up to them. Like I could 180 a 4 set consistently to the point is was lame so I tried the 5 set and got that first go and thats still easy. I'd say I'm a pussy at times , but I don't really go out and try to get hurt and stack clips , I just have fun. I can 180 sidewalk - kickers and that spooked me a bit , or I can drop 5" loading docks easy-ish but they spook me so it's rare.

Is it chill to just have fun and do what I like constantly? I mean it helps bike control. Since I was a kid I've always been the type to watch people try things to see if it's safe , which isn't a good quality. I do some things scary occasionally. Just wondering if it's just me like that or what , because I know a guy who tries scary shit thats way out of his skillset at times whenever he rides.

I'm pretty comfortable with my trick set but no footed cans can trip me out I haven't done them in quite a while, depending the speed I go at or height of the quarterpipe 540 airs always get my heart racing , I love ally oop airs just because they spook me going blind and not seeing if your going to land smooth or not till the last second

I'm the same way, I could easily go out and try to 3 down large sets and do big gaps but to me I don't see the point. im not trying to release web edits every week or get sponsored and i cant ride if i'm hurt so i prefer to learn smaller technical tricks. Really everyone likes to ride different things.

Depends what your goals are, or even if you have any. If your concerned with progression then you gotta leave your comfort zone, but if that doesn't bother you and you just wanna chill or have fun then the sticking with the basics is fine, only thing with that tho is it will eventually get so easy its boring.

I like to try at least one new thing everytime I go out, but I still make time to progress my current skill set aswell tho.

Set some goals dude, it really helps to avoid getting burned out, plus landing new tricks really improves your confidence too.

This.

Honestly I have stopped doing so many tricks over the years for various reasons that each session has basically become "relearning time with Dave". I rarely try anything too new anymore.

I do however try old tricks in new spots. So I guess that is learning, but mostly I cruise, do some stuff, and try not to get hurt. If I have a crazy session I have to build up to it, starting small and working may way up.

Anger also helps me ride crazier. If I am pissed I tend to huck it more. That's how I did 540s for the first time. I was pissed at a girl I had broken up with back then and went and threw myself around.

Haha I'm learning 5s out of banks at the minute, its mental how fast you have to spin, I literally can't see a thing, its just a blur.

I'm pretty sure I just closed my eyes and held on, then at what I felt was the 450 marker I would kick the back of my frame into the spin to bring me around better.

360s still sketch me out. I've hurt myself trying them so many times, I'm just really scared to do them out of flyouts or wedges or off of curbs still. Flat isn't too bad but anything else just scares me. 180s are another story though. I can pull 180s everywhere basically!

Feeble grinds scare the fuck out of me but I can 360 and huck 6 foot tall boosted 180's while smiling , even 9 sets aren't scary really. After watching Deadline I've been willig to try more shit that's possible and nothing crazy haha. Sometimes I'll muck with little things thats new but rarely will I just decide to do something major

Feebles on a foot high skatepark ledge , I will eye that fucker for 30 minutes and still be sketched to grind it , I get on and off right away , I hate how I hate grinds , I seriously will 180 down a 5 set first go instead of grinding.

The day I did this I looked at the roof and said "Hmmm...Maybe I'll jump off of that roof." 2 hours later, I was sitting on my bike on top of it hearing all kinds of people yelling at me things like "Yeah, Will!" or "Don't do it, Will!" Then Max says "He's good!" And I pedaled off of it. The end of it caused my feet to move a bit which made my weight shift a little bit which made me feel uncomfortable which made me take my foot off right at the last second! The bike hit the ground before my foot did so I just bruised my heel and I was fine in a week or two. My bike on the other hand ended up being not as good. I bent my front axle and my front tire exploded on impact. It was pretty crazy!

It's weird to think I tried this but I am afraid to 3 a two stair or something like that.

I just work on things I need to learn while still having fun. For example, for as much as I ride trails, I've always been terrible at judging the speed I need for jumps the first time I hit them so it takes me a little to get the balls to hit jumps the first time because I'm afraid I'll case or land flat. After that it's all good though.

Everyone is different. I love grinding but some people just don't! I feeble flat rails but it would probably take a while for me to 180 a 5 stair considering the biggest thing I've ever 180ed was a small loading dock that was probably like 2.5 feet tall.
