I have a question about sprockets. Some have the regular spike-type teeth, some have square teeth, and some have more rounded teeth. Are these mostly for design purposes, or does it have it's functionality advantages?

Pointed teeth are the worst. The least material, the least surface for taking sprocket bashes, and they look lame.

Rounded teeth are the next best. More material, but there's still not much surface for taking sprocket bashes.

Square teeth, like Odyssey's, are the best because they use the most material and have large surface areas on top to spread the load of sprocket bashes.

Rounded and square tooth designs tend to feel smoother and more consistent than pointed teeth in my experience.

I Believe that the squared teeth are for wear purposes, they eventually become sharp so i doubt its a "less dangerous option" or anything. I may be wrong on all that though

I don't think it causes less wear, there's just more material there so the teeth last longer.

That's what the s&m L7 sprocket says, that it creates less wear and lasts longer. I think they look better that way too.

Every time I've tried to get one they happened to be out of stock so I haven't tried one yet.
If you get one, Let us know how you like them.

Odysseys Incisor Teeth are designed to slow down sprocket wear.
