My stem has been slipping like a motherfucker and i have de greased the clamping area, sanded the bar gnurls, and tightened it in an x formation. But my bars keep slipping. Should i get a sunday freeze or do something else to my stem? Also when i put in my new stem do i need to grease my steer tube? Or add spacers?

tighten yo bolts more. and never greece the tube. just add enough spacers.

you didn't need to sand the knurls, just sand the clamping area of the stem. Are you sure you're doing proper cross tightening?

That is correct but are you cranking down each bolt all the way in one pass? Cuz if you are that could cause some uneven pressure. I do like 2-3 passes, tighten those fuckers down evenly before you crank em up at the end.

Some stems just have less clamping power than others. I've dealt with some super shitty ones in the past. usually it's the stock ones but not always.

Mission talon TL is better. The entire stem is 6061-t-6 instead of just the faceplate.

When you say mirraco, if you're talking about the black label stem, i never had a problem with mine.. if you're referring to those generic (no name) stems they used to put on their completes a couple years back, those are absolute shit..
proper tightening technique is the key to making any stem work flawlessly and last a very long time.. also, with spacers, make sure you don't have too many so that the steerer clamp isn't grabbing tube (no homo, lol).
if you want more rise, there's also the Fit High-Top Stem.. it's pricier, but it gives you 2mm more rise than the freeze and fit stems are magnificent.. the freeze is still perfect and very reliable for the price though.. and considering that 6.35mm is only a quarter of an inch, 2mm isn't even noticeable, but that 49mm reach looks enticing to me though.

Nice haha it is a real b**** when stems slip in a session, i got the ezra gauntlet, it is great for no slipping. i had the thing strip out before and i got a new one and i am not gonna screw with it a bunch and not overtighten it. I has not ever slipped. haha it is really nice. one kid on here says he bent it and i have had no problem other than the one part stripping
