Hey, I'm a new biker ( Just started, and got this bike almost new off a friend for 100$.) I wanted to upgrade this bike to make it as good as possible, and keeping it really light too.

I just have no idea what parts will fit, what tools I need and stuff like that.

Just want to make this bike great, and money isn't really an issue.

I'm willing to upgrade ANY parts if it helps the performance and also helps with weight reduction to.

thanks

If you have 1,100$ to spend just build a custom. But I advice just learning on what you bought for 100$ until you spend the money.

I don't think I should go out and buy a whole new set, when I could just add on to this one?

I heard some parts on this bike are good.

Do this, but for now maybe get comfy grips and seat, maybe different size bars if you're taller/shorter. Also do you know a lot of people that ride in Philly? Me and Brayden plan on taking a trip down there for a day or weekend in the near future.

PA THREAD!

But yeah just try learning on your bike now, get used to it, replace parts as they break. Maybe upgrade comfort things such as the grips, seat, tires. Bigger bars maybe if that's your thing.

Damn you, I just posted this was a PA thread haha

I agree with what Noah said. " comfy grips and seat, maybe different size bars if you're taller/shorter." Also, try out different pedals and get pegs.

Get a stronger chain then haha stock chains aren't always the best. Reading reviews and people said the stem sucks.

I probably should have said I got a new seat / grips.

Well the kid who I bought it off of did, I just didn't think they were of importance

If I were to buy a frame though, what is a good, durable, lightweight one?

And what kind of chain?

|

4/29/2013 3:07 PM

Btw, I'm a shorter person, 5'2 (yeah its sad :/) and Idk what kind of bars to have.

Suggestions?

You should really ride your stock bike for a ltitle so you know what kinda of frame geo you're looking for, but I recommend the Odyssey Bluebird for the chain.

Ride the stock bars you have now and see if you feel the need to go bigger.

Good street if you know where to look, as for parks the only ones are about 30-45 minutes away at Reid Menzer in York & Westminster skatepark in Westminster

I agree with this. And i'd get any chain except the shadow interlock v2. it sucks. And maybe get a sprocket? idk stock sprockets suck maybe like a MDS or tree or the sunday knox or something like that.

Also on almost every review i've read, I heard the stem slips quickly and should get a new one asap

I've been riding for a little under 2 years now and I started at like 7.5 and worked my way up to 8.75 now. I feel bigger bars are a lot better.
